It really does sound like 94 all over again.

And we certainly would've handled them if they had made it :sssh:

If you listen to the largest radio channel in Lou 84WHAS Trinity is on there every hour and I have never heard an X add. Maybe we are on different times/channels but I doubt it. By the way do kids listen to 84? No, parents do. So why talk like the following???

Dude, Trinity is fun "nn" stuff..... what is that?

I'm telling you, I laugh every time one of you does this stuff. I love it. But, but, but we woulda, if we coulda, and we shoulda, when we oughta, excepta, the other team scored more points. Other than that, you guys were the champs. Technical number 1. I like it. Do you propose an asterisk for the record book?

I'll forward your opinion of the advertising budget to Dr. Mullin. I'm sure he'll give it the attention it deserves.

I'm not a fan of our ad campaign this year...

I don't want to get into this really...it's the nature of the beast for all private high schools. And to try and take a jab at a school for the amount of times they run ads, etc is really kind of petty, don't you think?

I love the way you guys are reacting to Trinity's SIXTEENTH championship. It confirms all of the cliches about x. Get over it. At the end of the season you lost to the best team in the state. It really does sound like 94 all over again.

And again you guys refuse to address the content of my initial post, which clearly explains the simple point I was trying to make to refute some of the sillier claims made by T fans in this thread.

Actually, calculus is his passion. :D

Why did the Rocks react so strongly to Clubberlangs posts? I believe it's because they know he is right. Trinity had a great game Friday night and won the Championship. The team deserves the accolades it has received. Congratulations, Shamrocks. But this hardly convinces me that St. X did not have the all-around better team in 2005. St. X played far from their best game last Friday. Everything that could go wrong for the Tigers did. Injuries are part of football, but Brent Curley's broken foot on the second or third play of the game interfered with the team's ability to establish a consistent passing or running attack during the game. There were questionable calls and spots that mostly went against the Tigers. If this year's St. X team and this year's Trinity team met ten times, St X would win 8-9 out of those meetings. Trinity was the best team on the night of December 2. But St. X is the best team in the state. The strong reaction of Trinity fans to Clubberlang's post is an effort to deny a truth that I suspect even they realize.

Anyone is entitled to an opinion. Why have the Rock fans reacted to Clubberlang's post? Because it is insulting (and not fair to the Trinity players who laid everything out Friday) to say: hey, we lost the game but are still better than you.

Sorry clubber, it just won't wash. There is no way I'll buy into the argument that more wins in a season is better than a state title. As far as injuries, they are part of the game. We had more than our share this season. That's why they play them on the field. In 1968, after Trinity won the state title, there was a teacher at Bellarmine, (x grad), that said on the following Monday, "Well, I guess you guys won the big one, or maybe all of them But the big one". Some things never change. He was wrong then, you are wrong now. The only claim I've seen made by the Trinity folks is that at the end of the season, Trinity had the best team in the state. You could try to make the argument that the best team in the state was the 1A, 2A or 3A champ, but the best team in 4A at the END of the season was decided on the field.

Actually, calculus is his passion. :D

Calculus used to be my passion. Now it's Trinity. Calculus just isn't the same since Denny Esterle (the BEST calculus teacher in the history of the universe) retired. A true story. My roommate and I were tutoring half the dorm in calculus. An exasperated young lady said "How in the world can this stuff be so easy for you guys?" We both answered, "Because this guy isn't half as tough as the guy we had last year." I didn't really appreciate just how good the teachers at Trinity were until I got to college.

There is no way I'll buy into the argument that more wins in a season is better than a state title.
Who is making that argument? I bet the St. Xavier guys would take a couple of more losses right now for a ring.

That being said, it's an entirely plausible and defendable position to say that St. Xavier had the better team. Upsets happen ... even in the state finals.
