August 2, 201115 yr Why wasn't Chapman in there with the bases juiced? You need strikeouts and he gets them. SMH! Dusty can't think that quick to even get him ready. All he had to do after the hit to give them 1st and 3rd was tell Pryce to get him up, send Hanigan out, walk the bases loaded, send Hanigan out again, then go out and get Ondrusek and make the call to the pen. Should have been enough time to get him ready.
August 2, 201115 yr Don't look now boys and girls but Milwaukee is starting to take control of the division the way I said they would after the All-Star break. They have the combination of pitching and offense to make a run and put the division in the bag. I fully expect that to happen by the end of the month.

August 2, 201115 yr This game shows exactly why the Reds are in the position today. They have lost games like this all year. Yes, the players really need to be better, but in close games Dusty is just left out. These players just won.t get to the next level under Dusty. I do like Alonzo swing and think he should be in our future plans somewhere.

Rolen made a big difference in that last year as he was very good at making something happen with the bat in clutch situations. Hit hit .264 with runners in scoring position last year. This year's team can't even get the bat on the ball to drive in a run. I would guess they are one of the worst in the league in sacrifice flies also. Last night was a brutal, frustrating, horrible, etc. display of hitting with runners in scoring position. That game was perhaps the most frustrating of the season for me to watch.

I think the point he is trying to make here is that when the team isn't getting the job done you really need a manager that can help the team win the close games. Dusty Baker imo is truly not that kind of guy. In this type game you have to be ready to make quick decisions and he lacks poorly in that area.

The big fallacy in your (and other's) ongoing attacks on Dusty is this - you think your decision/strategy is right and Dusty's is wrong. I do think there have been 2 or 3 decisions Dusty made in the last month that are hard to understand and look like bad moves. But beyond those 2 or 3 decisions, every time you make a point about why in the world is Dusty doing that, more than half of us are saying his move makes sense. Whether it works or not is up to the players - either way. The advantage you have is your alternate decision doesn't happen and we have no way of knowing if it would have worked or not. If he continues to progress and the days of 4 straight balls is behind him, then he'll be ready for that type of situation. Not yet.
