August 2, 201115 yr I'll go with the under also. Bronson has won his last seven starts versus Houston. His ERA during those 7 starts is 1.74 ERA. He allowed one run in five of those outings. I'm going with the contrarion position and predicting a stong outing by There's only one whiffle ball and that ain't it.
August 2, 201115 yr I've see three years of Alonso's minor league performance, and combined with the universally-held notion that Alonso's defense leaves a lot to be desired, my opinion is probably a little more informed than your hopeful one. Doubtful. Alonso has only hit .290+ the last 2 years in AAA. I'll take that in a heartbeat as the everyday LF'er of the Reds.

August 2, 201115 yr Key phrase ... "in Triple-A." Everybody says Alonso is going to hit at the big league level and judging by his September call up last year and his at-bats this year I agree. If you trust them that his defense leaves a lot to be desired why not trust the 'professional scouts' that he'll hit at the big league level?

Alonso is hitting .296 with 12 homers in 358 at-bats in Louisville ... projected over a full season, that's about .296-15-75 or so at Triple-A, and he'll lose some of that when you start to equate that to major league performance. Heck, Jeremy Hermida is hitting .300 with numbers slightly better than Alonso, and he's hit .244 in the majors since 2008.

I just said he'd be more productive than what Cincinnati is currently getting out of LF. Which is next to nothing the vast majority of the time.

Votto was a career .289 hitter in the minors, but nope, Alonso will definitely "lose some of that" at the major league level.
August 2, 201115 yr Do you ever wonder if the nurse was high in the hospital when taking the information for the birth certificate when Wandy Rodriguez was born? His mom maybe meant Juan D. Rodriquez?
