I try to ignore them out of spite every morning, but every night I end up watching the game and regretting it. Kind of like the time when my uncle Abdul promised my aunt that he would stop using the toothbrushes to clean out his ears. At the end of the night he was guilty and had bad breath. August 8, 201115 yr You aren't trying to say there is any comparison defensively between Alonso and Stubbs are you? On defense and the left field topic, Sappelt is looking good. If Alonso were in left, how many runs would the Cubs have today? I could see Sappelt being the answer in left field and batting lead off. Good defense. Good on base percentage. Something to consider for sure. Did I imply that? I merely said Stubbs can't be considered a good defensive player until he can handle the balls over his head and in front of him. When it comes to Alonso do you know what they say about the word assume? Give the kid a chance to learn a new position but in the grand scheme of things it looks like he will be playing 1st base here befoe long. Votto will be gone!

August 8, 201115 yr Stubbs is the most overrated defensive player I've ever seen. He regularly gets terrible breaks on balls, gets turned around, or flat out misplays a ball only to make up for it with his speed. His pathetic effort yesterday and his attempt to slide tackle Phillips Saturday show the true type of defensive player he is.

He has had more than enough time to develop those skills and I don't see it. If Sappelt is going to stick with this club, trade Heisey and move Stubbs to left and plug Sappelt into CF.
