August 5, 201115 yr I don't know why it is shocking to everyone when Dempster does that, he has done that to the Reds his whole career. Because he's a very below average pitcher. It's not surprising at all though. The Reds have made a career out of making bad pitchers look unhittable.

He would have been the #1 or #2 starter on the Reds the past three seasons. 200 innings a year, 200 strikeouts a year. Two time All Star and finished 6th in Cy Young voting in 2008. I am not saying the guy is a world beater, but he isn't below average.

He had a 9.58 ERA in April ... since then he is 7-5 with a 3.57 ERA and has had mostly quality starts.

Dempster is at 110 pitches, has just walked back to back guys, and he goes up there hacking at a slider on the outside corner and a fastball up and out of the zone to put himself behind 0-2. He has shown zero progress at the plate, actually I think he's regressed, in the past two seasons.
August 5, 201115 yr Leake did an awesome job getting out of last innings. Men on 3rd and 2nd with 0 outs and the Cubs couldn't score. Which Leake was over 100 pitches, when Dusty kept him out even though bases were loaded with just one out and he got out of it. I think I remembered suggesting doing something like that last week.
