Can someone explain to me why Hanigan didn't score on that? It was obvious that it was going to either be a HR or off the wall. No reason he shouldn't have been moving right away.

Votto was a full year ahead of Alonso in terms of development and quite a bit more productive, and that lends itself to more upside. Votto's age, development and performance was a good indicator that he would be productive in the majors. Alonso doesn't have his track record and nobody in baseball thinks he's capable of handling a position other than first base.

I was just giving you the situation. You're assumption of how it went down was wrong. He wasted a lot of players that night but he got bailed out because a pitcher got a hit.
