Anyone going? Who ya got? We have four people going and I'm pumped. I hope Ryan Newman wins but I wouldn't mind seeing Dale Jr. get a win. Should be a awesome atmosphere.

We will be there ... we got lucky and have hot passes.

I never realized that Ryan Newman is so yoked.

We have a good picture of him from today ... maybe I can talk the wife into posting it.

My picks ... either Jeff Gordon ... or Kyle Busch (he was set on kill all day today during testing).

Kentucky Speedway equals a boring track!

Go Tony! He is due for a win.

For those of you going, I hope you enjoy your stay in my home county and come back soon! However, I won't be meeting you there, and will be staying far clear of all that mess.

Sounds like a complete mess tonight. I read that people who waited for hours in traffic on 71 and were late for the race were turned away because there wasn't enough parking. How can you not have enough parking ?

Joe Reedy of the Enquirer said it took him 3:45 to get there from NKY which is normally a 45 minute ride.

Bruton Smith was quoted as saying I71 was the worst highway in America.

I was wondering how it would all go down--hoping that the Speedway people could pull this off after wrestling for a Sprint Cup opportunity. If what you've reported here is true, it is terribly unfortunate.

Hard to argue Bruton Smith's comment on I-71 though...

I don't think any of that should be surprising.

Our group of 8 left Flemingsburg at 2pm...got to the speedway exit around halfway of the race (9pm ish)...got gas at the BP across from the track and headed back home.

Jim I didn't know you lived near there, for some reason I always thought you resided in Louisville.

And that's if you're coming from like Newport.

I was with a friend when he got a call from a guy that had left his house in Crittenden(spelling) at 3:45, basically a 15-20 minute drive tops and they were sitting in traffic still trying to get to the race at 7:15

I can't really argue with Smith on that one. The interstate has been in horrible condition in that area for years; has a lot to do with why I take the "old road" back home regularly.

The road issues are kinda what happens when the "no-tax" people are running the show. Considering the crowd at the Ky Speedway was likely overwhelmingly GOP, sorry about their luck. Can't get good roads for free.

However, I'm not surprised there were issues with traffic and parking. If you try and cram 100K people into the smallest county in the state, a county with an infrastructure designed to service 10,000 people, there's gonna be issues.

The people who showed up Thursday were the smart ones. After that, I have zero sympathy for you.

I live in Bardstown, but I'm from Sawville. I was, thankfully, nowhere near my hometown tonight.

Update: It's not that there wasn't enough parking for the late arrivers. The track had already gone into "exit mode" once the race hit the half-way point which means no one could enter.

SI.com was quoted as saying it was one of the most inept debuts in a long time.

Hate to see the Commonwealth get a black eye, but as was mentioned earlier, you can't get something for nothing.
