July 11, 201115 yr On top of all this it was a very boring race. I am heading to the best track next month Bristol! What do you expect It was a bunch cars going around in a circle , Give me road racing anytime (F1) !!
July 11, 201115 yr As mentioned earlier by someone else I don't know one person that has been to another race that had major traffic issues.
July 12, 201115 yr Last time I went to a Daytona race I was blocked in so I made my own exit and flatten a fence and got right on the road then about 10 cars followed me.
July 13, 201115 yr As mentioned earlier by someone else I don't know one person that has been to another race that had major traffic issues. I find that hard to believe. Unless you meant to say "didn't have" instead of "had." Any time you're going to gather up that many people in the same place, there's going to be issues getting 'em in and out. It's just a question of how big the issues are.
July 13, 201115 yr If everyone left early to get there around noon, wouldn't that create the same problem, only a bigger backup?
July 14, 201115 yr I find that hard to believe. Unless you meant to say "didn't have" instead of "had." Any time you're going to gather up that many people in the same place, there's going to be issues getting 'em in and out. It's just a question of how big the issues are. I've never been to one, but I have to ask how other 100,000 plus venues do it? I've never heard issues like these from venues like Tenn. OSU, or the Big House. How many attend the Ky Derby? Any complete melt downs at these venues that compare what happened in Sparta?

How many attend the Ky Derby? Any complete melt downs at these venues that compare what happened in Sparta? No, but I would argue in each of the cases you mention, those venues have multiple points of access to their parking lots, whereas the Ky. Speedway is very limited in that department. Those venues have also been hosting big-time crowds for decades, so they've got lots of experience in dealing with it.
July 15, 201115 yr Talked to a friend today who went to the race. Came up 35 from Warsaw. Said it took him 3 hours to go what, 4 or 5 miles? But, he said once they crested the final hill, the remaining 500 feet or so and all the way into the parking lot went smoothly. Attributed all the other stop/go action to all the home/land owners who were out along the street stopping traffic all the way to the track trying to get everyone to park in their lot. Said he saw at least 3 or 4 people who stopped and talked to EVERY vehicle.
July 15, 201115 yr I went to the Indy 500 several years ago. 400,000 people there. Parked at an apartment complex about two miles from the Speedway. Everything went as smooth as silk.
July 16, 201115 yr Most tracks have more than two ways to access there property. That's Kentucky's main problem. They'll get it worked out. The parking was poorly run as was the concessions. Never had a vendor come up or down my aisle all night. I have been to Michigan and Atlanta back in the 80's & 90's. It was horrible there too. Eventually they got it worked out. The media ought to thank Kentucky Speedway because they had something to write and complain about for almost two weeks now. Front page of the Herald-Leader today quoted Bruton threatening to move the race. He's already started his manuevering for funds to fix the problems. Usually what Bruton wants, he gets...
July 18, 201115 yr How many tracks sold out their races this year? As far as I know, this is the only race to sell out this year. Las Vegas...maybe
July 18, 201115 yr Bruton Smith threatens to pull the date and move it to Vegas. Thats Bruton playing politics. He has already spent a lot of money to just up and move the race. Especially since it just sold out.
