A point was made that the book company who did OJ's book "If I Did It?" received a lot of backlash for publishing it. That might give book companies a second thought in doling out so much money.

Headline News was reporting that the woman that has the same name as the name she lied to police in abducting her baby (nicknamed Zanny the Nanny; there is a real person with that name) has sued and papers have been served to Casey in jail for slander and defamation of character.

 

Zanny's lawyer will be looking to dispose Casey and have her testify under oath in that disposition. Since there are no criminal charges, Casey would not be able to claim the 5th amendment.

 

She also wouldn't be allowed to testify and incriminate herself. The murder of her daughter would not be discussed in that case IMO.

As my last sentence stated, since double jeopardy prevents any charges being filed on her for the murder of her daughter and because it is a civil case NOT a criminal case, the talking legal heads were saying the 5th amendment could not be brought into the case.

 

O, you have Casey under oath and there will be a lot of questions about her daughter's death and a lot of objections from her lawyer either in a disposition or actually on the stand if the case went to trial.

Where is the reasonable doubt? Is it because no definitive cause of death was proven so there is doubt that it was murder? Explain the duct tape over Caylee’s mouth and nose then if it wasn’t murder. Is there doubt that Casey was involved? Explain why she did report it, lied to the police, made up fictitious people , and the chloroform test from the car. I don’t see the reasonable doubt that Casey was not at least guilty of aggravated manslaughter and aggravated child abuse.

 

The reasonable doubt is did Casey put the duct tape over Caylee's mouth and nose. There is absolutely no definitive evidence that Casey had anything at all to do with her daughter's death. That's the challenge...putting all the circumstantial evidence into a case that defines, beyond reasonable doubt, that Casey killed her daughter. They can't even prove she was the last one to see her alive. Did she act out of what we presume to be the character of a mother who's child was missing? Absolutely. But it doesn't put her at the scene of the crime. Do I feel she's a terrible mother? Absolutely. But does that make her the murderer? I can't say I would feel what was presented means so. There's no question her character is shady. But shady character doesn't define murder.

I saw an interview with him yesterday and you are right, a real slimeball.

I can only imagine that feeling would be magnified even more if the sentence might be life in prison. I'd rather err on the side of freeing a guilty person than vice versa.

I agree. It is much easier for me to accept a "not innocent" person living in the free world much more than I can accept an innocent person locked up for life.

 

I don't know all the facts of the case, but from what I did follow, I never felt that the prosecution had a strong enough case against Casey. Not saying she is innocent, either.

I am not joking. I just heard on the Greta Van Sustren news show (Fox News) that an inmate of Anthony told them that Casey Anthony and this inmate were talking about wanting more children :ohbrother:. Even talked about trying to get pregnant at the same time if possible in the future. You can't make this stuff up!! :scared:
