Kudos to Coach Morris, Russell's Defensive Coordinator on another great game plan. His defense pretty much shut down a great Ace's offense. I'm sure that most of the Ace's fan will say that Russell had by far the best defense they've seen all year. Great job Coach Morris. :dancingpa :dancingpa :ylsuper: :ylsuper:

Russell had a good defense but the offense is what made your D look so good with controlling Time Of Possession. Catholic had around 350 yards with only 6 or 7 possesions the entire game.

I had to post this pic. It made me do a double take when I was taking it.

That's too funny. I actually bought him make-up remover for after the games because he was having such a problem getting it off. :D:D:D

That must be some good makeup remover then.

But it was befitting for the team he was on. And they played a great game and there is nothing wrong with having a little extra fun with it.... :fire:

Russell had a good defense but the offense is what made your D look so good with controlling Time Of Possession. Catholic had around 350 yards with only 6 or 7 possesions the entire game.

Owensboro Catholic had 8 possessions during the game and gained 337 total yards on offense. 66 of those yards came on their last possession, with Russell playing a prevent defense, giving the underneath passes and short runs.

Without a doubt, Russell's time of possession had a huge impact on the outcome of the game. In the pregame discussion threads, someone made the statement that the Aces would run 80 plays on offense, when they actually ran 58. That prediction of 80 offensive plays is a reflection of someone not understanding what ball control offense does in the game of football.

While OCath was on the field, Russell's defense more than rose to the occasion, allowing only two TD's, creating two turnovers, and coming up big in the red zone.

Funny thing about platooning - if a school has 20 or so athletes that can really play well, then platooning is a viable option. If, on the other hand, a school has 6 or 7 players that are exceptional athletes, and a bunch of underclassmen that can fill roles while maturing, then platooning doesn't really make much sense.

In my opinion, you should have your 11 best athletes that can run and hit on the field when you are on defense. On offense, you can get some subs in to allow the starters to rest, but that substitution pattern is developed over the course of a season.

Corgratulations Russell on a great win !!

Way to go Red Devils and the coaching staff. Well deserving and long over due. Coach Morris congrates. Russell seniors showed great leadership . They visioned this last year and work very hard on the off season and did whatever it took to get the job done. You set the standard for next season.

Way to step up #11 Lewis, #9 Beekmon and #8 Jones. Presence felt on the field w/ special team plays.

# 24 Casey Clark "You the man" To much power and strength and determination to get it done. Well deserving award.

Russell best D-fence was there O-fence today. 31 min. of old school "WING-T" ball control. As for players going both ways. It wasn't even a factor. Matter of fact. It look like OC's players were getting tired of Russell's 3 down lineman on D-fence cause they were getting thru and making OC's QB run around to keep from getting sacked. Great job Schafer, Mell, Smith. These players play both sides the whole game. Good kicking by #23 Evans way to put it between the uprights. PAT's 65-72 for the yr.

Great send off Friday from the school and the community. Thanks

And what a welcome Home. Thanks to Sam Sparks. Thanks

Again, way to go Russell Red Devils and the Coaching staff. You made your DEVILS very proud. :fire: :fire: :fire: :fire: :fire: :fire: :fire:
