What a way for Russell to get its 500th win in school history. WAY TO GO RUSSELL!!!!!

Congrats to all the players and coaches and all the people behind the scenes. Also, I think it is awesome how much support the area based fans gave the Devils. Also, as I understand it, Russell received some help from Raceland preparing for the Tony Franklin Offense. It showed tonight that Coach Morris had his defense ready.

Kasey Clark ran the ball extremely well. Tommy Brown ran for several key first downs. Junior Nick Lewis really stepped up defensively and played great in the absence of Micheal Horn. Sophomore Tyler Jones had a very good game with the interception and blocked punt. Junior Aaron Beekman made a nice interception as well filling in when Tommy and Timberlake were banged up. Great game by all.

Also would like to recognize the sportsmanship on the field. O'Cath has a class act football team. Didn't seem to be a lot of trash talking. There was a lot of times when players were helping up members from the other teams for both sides.

Great game plan and execution Russell...You definately deserve to tote home the big trophy...Tons of heart and desire on your sideline....

Well, I guess this puts that whole public/private debate to rest.

;)

I'm not sure that it will. If NCC wins (And I think they will), you would have three private State Champs. They represent less than 20 percent of the football teams in the state but they could be holding 75 percent of the hardware.

Big congrats to Russell! What a season! I didn't get a chance to go the game, but I watched Navy run the Wing against Army this afternoon in honor of the Red Devils!

Great job Russell, old school remains the power in AA,Thanks to Mclone, and his wife congrats,on being a hometown hero, named by W.S.AZ.T.V.

Congrats to Russell.

Way to bring that 2A trophy back to the east again!!

Got to meet Rockmom, Jim Schue, 02Ram54, RadioGuy, Westsider, Watusi - probably one or two more that I can't remember. Apparently, I met Tony Danza as well, but wasn't aware of it until after the fact. Turns out that Tony Danza looks even better in person than on TV....

What a night.

I can't tell you how much I really respect the OC coach - John Edge. The guy had just lost his second straight championship game, and you know he had to be hurting. He was a classy an act as anyone could have been, especially considering the circumstances.

OCath had some really nice looking players. Tough way to finish a season.

Could McGlone deserve a better end to his season? The entire Russell coaching staff has to be commended - what a job they did in preparing the kids, especially when you consider that Russell had lost two of their best cover men in the last two weeks...

Tracy Edwards and Steve Hicks (I apologize for not knowing the other coach) were the "eyes in the sky" - and obviously, their eyesight was pretty good. Mike Jones feeding suggestions to Ivan on the sideline. Morris getting the defense ready. What an effort.

Lastly, you simply have to hand it to the kids on the field, because they went out and executed what had to be done.

Woof.

Way to go Russell, good kicking Dwaine Evans.

I enjoyed watching this game Russell is a good running team #24 is a stud and I thought your middle linebacker #52 was tough. I thought you guys looked to be in a lot better shape that the aces and were able to play physical the whole game, congrats to the players and coaches on winning. I thought Catholic knew how to throw the football???????????? Looked like to me the were trying to run the sweep all night.

Great job Russell !!!!!!

Enjoy the feeling of the championship over the winter and into the spring and summer. You will have the "target" on your back come fall.

Looking forward to our game next year.

Being from Owensboro and an Aces fan, I also would like to send my "congrats" to the Russell Red s, Coach McGlone and his entire staff and the Russell fans. Your team is very deserving of the state 2A title. I talked with Coach McGlone, although I was a stranger to him, he made me feel like a long lost friend. Also to Frances Bavier for taking the time to visit me. You are all a fine group and know this, be proud, be very proud of those Red s. Clark was all that was advertised. Brown played like a real trooper with some pain and that defense gave my Aces fits. The "O" line for the s was just as good as the best I have seen this year. The special teams...well you know what they can do to start a ball game!!!! Best wishes to all the Russell community from this football fan first and an Aces fan second. You are the best. Now go celebrate...Thats an order!!!!

Way to go Russell, good kicking Dwaine Evans.

He's a great asset to have. And the best thing is he is only a junior. Could have been used a couple times tonight, but Coach decided to go for it. Seemed to work out. That's why he's the coach. :D
