Harrison wasn't too good last year. Maybe they'll be better this year. In there defense, though, they play an awefully tough schedule.

Certain teams can get into the head of other teams and it’s a good advantage. For us it was the Birmingham teams. We didn’t beat a Birmingham team until 1983 and we talked about it when we were not at school but it was about being the first team to do it.

 

Now to Beechwood and Mayfield….Mayfield has had the better team each time they have played. I don’t believe for a second that Beechwood even worries about playing us at all. It is just the way it is. Mayfield will be tough to beat this year and I believe Beechwood will give it their best shot will even think about each other until they happen to meet in the playoffs.

Their BGP fans are, read the May and Bw threads and many mention figuring out a way to beat the Cards as a priority. I'm not sure where it ranks with the players and coaches but it is in their minds somewhere. As has been mentioned on here, they have scheduled a long road trip just to help prepare them for their possible trip west. Speaking of which, I still can't figure out why the lines were drawn up as they are. To make either team have to travel this kind of distance is wrong and I think having them on opposite sides of the bracket where they could meet in the title game would just add to the match up of what I think are 1A's two best teams year in and year out.

I hear you but it has been my experience that when you have a championship team, especially one that was as good as last year's Mayfield team, there usually are a lot more high quality players there than it appears. I have no doubt that Mayfield has some seniors and juniors that are excellent players who played behind a quality senior and can't wait to show what they can do. They wear the favorites crown till we see something that makes people think differently.

It's not the fans who win or lose the games. Most know nothing of how the players feel or think.

TP, you "stirring the proverbial pot"? I love it . Mayfield has certainly earned it.

 

IMO free Beechwood "mind reading" will be available quite often this season. At least until they travel to Mayfield in late November. Hopefully this season it will at least be a game and not another pounding but Beechwood just can't get over that Cardinal "hump"!
