Mayfield is the best team in A this year again. No one will be able to touch them. They will go undefeated and win A once again this year and probably for many more years in the future. Their program is just too strong and they have the best coaches in the state. No one in A has a chance against them.

With all the jocking for position, I think we can all agree that it will be Mayfield and Beechwood playing for the right to play in the finals.

Mayfeild has to be considered the preseason favorite. In order for anyone to contend they will have to make a huge leap forward and prehaps hope Mayfeild slips back tot the pack a little. That being said, Beechwood is going to be good and I expect to see these two meet in the final.

The number of running clocks make this deceving. The running clocks and run straight ahead to avoid making it worse didn't get the youth the time or experience it seems in some of those games

 

True, one thing is for certian Mayfield will still be a heck of team this year no doubt it. They are the Champions until someone proves otherwise.

You know what I think is great? I think that it gets under the skin of the Beechwood faithful that the Mayfield fans, players, etc. don't give one hoot about the mystique of Beechwood. I can't think of any other programs in the class that can honestly say that. But it's clear that they don't. I dig it.

There is only one thing that gets under the skin of the Beechwood faithful - the fact that Beechwood hasn't beaten Mayfield. Everything else is just rhetoric. I don't believe there is any mystique or psychological issue either way. I know no one at Beechwood feels any mystique toward Mayfield and I don't expect anyone at Mayfield to feel that way toward Beechwood. Beechwood didn't feel any mystique when it played Highlands the last two years. When you have programs that win as much as the top tier programs do, there is no such thing as mystique.

When you go to Beechwood and you drive a few miles you see the skyline of Cincinnati but when you drive a few miles from Mayfield you see cornfields. Its easy to see how Beechwood can keep it going from year to year but for Mayfield it sometimes defies logic.

Gotcha...you are talking about fans, not the teams or players. If you are talking about fans, then you may have a point. But who cares about them.

Now that I disagree on. Those cornfields are exactly why it is easier for Mayfield to keep it going. Anyone in that entire area that wants to play top level football is going to want to go to Mayfield. Beechwood doesn't even get all the best players in Ft. Mitchell. They pick up some out of district students to offset that. But there are quality players that live in Ft. Mitchell that go to other schools. Is there one high quality football player in Graves County that doesn't play for Mayfield?

You have cornfields and NKY has 15 or so high schools within a 15-20 mile radius so talent is spread pretty thin. Every school has something to deal with...
