June 29, 201115 yr If the starting pitchers can stay healthy, the Reds will have a much better record the rest of the season. Cueto and Leake are pitching very well. Bailey was pitching great before the arm issue so I am counting on him to get back on track in his next couple starts. Arroyo is solid. Volquez should continue to get better as the season goes on. I believe he is still less than a year removed from TJ surgery. That is probably the best starting pitching the Reds have had in who knows how long.

June 29, 201115 yr No good place to put this so I'll put it here. The Pirates have used 7 different catchers this season yet their staff has one of the lower ERAs int he NL. 7.

No but I can always tell how you and a few others on here who think they have God's gift of sports knowledge will respond. You know everyone is entitled to an opinion and let's leave it at that.
June 29, 201115 yr I can agree with that since Cueto had only thrown 94 pitches. That was my point all along with Cueto. He had pitched a tremendous game and made one real mistake pitch. At what point in his young career do you step back and say I am going to let him win or lose this game and try to work though the jam. He already let him face one batter with 2 on and 1 out and he got him out. I get it that Damon had hit a home run earlier but Damon is not Babe Ruth or Albert Pujols and he still only gets 1 hit about every 2-3 times he bats.

Like we have discussed on here over the last several weeks the pitching is NOT the problem at the present time and I agree that it might get better. Offense is still the problem and when they win it's because they have decent games on the offensive side.

I agree Dusty can make some headscratching decisions. This one simply isn't one of them. He leaves Cueto out there and he gives up the same texas leaguer to Damon, and you're on here frying him over not going with the lefty/lefty matchup.
