RP, if this list is of the greatest programs all-time, then why should St. X be ranked ahead of Male? What has X accomplished in its history that is more impressive than Male's accomplishments?

More titles.

when people think football, real football, it is in the end only Highlands, Trinity, St X. These 3 have been the elite for a time longer than the likes of Bell or Boyle in the long run.

At the end of the day....it's simple....

 

Trinity, Highlands, X are the greatest of all time in KY.

 

I would add Danville in that mix and maybe above St. Xavier.

True, but according to that Louisville metro football website, both programs are very close in total number of championships, when counting official KHSAA titles and pre-1959 Litkenhous titles. I think St. X has 14 and Male 12.

 

One stat that isn't close is total win count... Male has a 113-game lead on St. X in that category.

I thought the name of the thread is 'Who do you think are Kentucky's all time greatest gridiron programs'. I think we all know who the top 3-5 programs are. Who are the rest? All of this focus on Trinity, Highlands, St. X and Male is all for nothing. Who doesn't list them as the top programs? Who else is there after Danville and Mayfield? Are there only 6 great programs?

Don't know. I was born in 1974. I can only speak on what I have seen and heard in my lifetime. I'd be interested into knowing who the better programs were pre-1985 as well.

Having more wins, when you've been around longer than everyone else, doesn't impress me.

Maybe not in looking at great programs today. But when looking at it historically, winning a title is 1950 is just as good as winning a title in 2010.
