Boyle County was the first team to win 5 consecutive championships which spanned going from 2A to 3A(including defeating the #1 program twice in one season), they have one of the longest game winning streaks in the history of the state and if I am not mistaken they are the top ten in titles with 7. In his defense many people do not due to HHS having played up so often in the past.

Follow the thread big guy and you'll see I already said that and yes, at one point in history Boyle County beat you twice in a year. It can happen.

I don't have Boyle's W-L records but they had good success making somewhat deep playoff runs in 90's, some success in the late 70's and early 80's also. If Boyle is going to be punished amongst the all time greats because they started dominating in 1999 then a school like Danville should take a hit for being less than dominating for the last 12 years. Not to mention countless other schools that would be ranked ahead of Boyle yet have fewer titles to validate their wins. Anyone can schedule weak teams and accrue wins but greatness always should be ultimately measured by titles, IMO. Currently, Boyle is one of the top programs in the state. Had they not won 7 titles in the last 12 years I wouldn't be banging this drum so loudly. Had they won 3 in the last 12 I wouldn't be banging this drum so loudly. 7 of the last 12 titles puts you in a group amongst the greatest and also establishes a program and mindset and blueprint within the program to keep it there for many eras.

 

Like I said, Boyle will be one of the top 10 programs of all time for the remainder of our lives. I think we are about 5-10 years behind Highlands in terms of getting our program functioning like Highlands. Probably not as successful or prestigious as Highlands but they provide the perfect model for us to aspire to and a great fundamental approach to high school football for us as well. What program wouldn't want to do things like Highlands? I'd love to see us gravitate to a two platoon system. It can only make us better.

It's sarcasm because we didn't run the score up. Get it? There was a big fuss on this board about Boyle running the score up(which we didn't) and it took a graduated player and championship winner from the 2004 Highlands team to set the record straight to the Highlands faithful that we did not run the score up and that the pain of losing erased any thought of Boyle running the score up. He even stated that Coach Mueller told the team Boyle didn't run the score up. That game could possibly be the starting point of the Highlands program moving up to the next level as Highlands has only excelled even further since 2004.

 

As for childish comments you should really look in the mirror. You consistently have a holier-than-thou tone in your posts. It is a known fact amongst knowledgable Highlands fans that Boyle County is 2-2 against Highlands along with your 20(I have on sandals, didn't need to take my shoes off) titles. You asked a question that I already responded to earlier in the thread and I responded to you the same way I would anyone who didn't check the research in front of them before responding and asking a question that had been answered. If it's childish so be it. No sweat off of my back.

Cincinnati X (ranked 18th in the nation ) in 09 , believed that they could beat the Birds , and we all know how that turned out ! I don't recall anyone having Boyle Co. ranked near the top of any poll nationally that year , if I'm wrong please correct me. So , it looks like your the only one who believes that. MaxpReps had the Birds ranked #3 in the nation at the end of the year , but I can't recall where Boyle Co. was nationally ranked , maybe you can help me out on that one. Where in the world did you get 1983 from? I was 9 years old at a Catholic school in Bowling Green learning that girls aren't so gross after all in 1983. I didn't know Boyle County existed then but the Boyle County program fell on some hard times shortly after 1983 and it took the hiring of Chuck Smith in 1991, I believe, to get things turned into the direction that Boyle County currently is in.

 

Didn't that same Cincinnati St. X team end up losing 3-4 games that year and didn't finish in any of the 35 national polls? Was Highlands their only loss that year?

 

Do we really need to start a thread on validity of national polls for high school sports?

For what it is worth, Boyle County in 2009 was undefeated state champs, ranked #3 in KY overall by Maxpreps, right behind Highlands who was ranked #2 in KY by Maxpreps. It would have been a fun game to see.
