The minnifields have a nice father son combo.

Although not as big time (yet...lol) as some mentioned here, the Root family has a pretty good athletic tradition down in Williamsburg. Aaron Root will be playing this fall at the University of the Cumberlands, he has 2 uncles who made it as high as triple a in baseball in the early 60's, his dad was a standout at Carson Newman in the late 70's, and he has a younger brother who will be a freshman at Williamsburg this fall.

I'd say the most prevalent family in Breathitt County football history is Chapman...

 

George Chapman - Played safety and QB in the early '90's

Jeremiah Chapman - George's younger brother...three-year starter at CB, played on the first two Bobcat championship squads, made the all-state team as a senior and played on the Kentucky all-star team

 

Wick Chapman - Played TE and DL in the early '90's...

Waylon Chapman - Three-year starter at QB, played for first championship team, (I think he finished as the runner-up for Mr. Football behind Tim Couch), played on KY all-star team, played at EKU for 4 years

 

John Paul Chapman - Played for the Bobcats and has been one of the top assistant coaches in the state as the defensive coordinator for all of the Bobcat championship teams

Jonathan Chapman - John Paul's son, played three years at Breathitt County before heading to Pikeville when his dad took the head coaching job there...won 2A player of the year as a junior, finished his career with 99 TD's, got a scholly to UK but didn't stick it out

 

Al Collins - Played O-line from '91-'94, great LT, one of the best in school history, walked on at UK briefly but he didn't stay in Lexington

Eric Collins - Played offensive and defensive line, 4-year starter, played on the '95 and '96 championship teams, all-state team as a senior, played on KY All-Star team, got a scholarship to Wofford, but didn't finish because he got sick and was later diagnosed with Crohn's disease

Wade Collins - Youngest Collins brother, probably the best LB in school history, I'm pretty sure he was an all-stater as a senior, graduated in '98

 

That's the ones I can tell you about. I'm sure there are some from before my time that I just don't know that much about.

I'd saw the Tamme's and Leffew's in Boyle County. Jacob Tamme plays for the Indy Colts and I'm not 100% sure where Travis Leffew plays(Green Bay Packers maybe?). Correct me if I'm wrong. Bobby Leffew went on the Louisville to play, tried out for the Chicago Bears and was cut. He went on to play for the Lexington Horsemen I believe.

Actually, I believe it is Mattingly. Also had another Mattingly (nephew Michael) who was Victor Anderson's backfield running mate on X's last state title team. Turned down offers from smaller colleges to be a student at Notre Dame.

The Newells in Somerset have had a great legacy that has been passed down throught the whole family. Some of those players are; Archie Newell, Chris Newell, Brandon Newell, Scotty Newell(All three of these players have some sort of record that they hold at Somerset High School)

 

It always seems that the BriarJumpers have a Newell on their roster somewhere!

What is the record for most consecutive years of siblings being in one program from 9th through 12th at Highlands? I know the Schlosser's will have 7 years when Hunter finishes.

 

I assume the Guiduglis have a longer streak than that.

 

What about the Cecils? Bardo?
