Rivals released their newest rankings for this year's senior class. Ranked the top 250.

 

Zeke was 145. Only KY player in the top 250.

 

 

Its weird but hey, why would Rivals give a kid a top rating that is going to UK to play football. No shot on PT, its just the mindset that the media has embedded along with the success of each program. Rivals may have been all set to rank him one of the top prospects in the country until they learned he is headed to Lex.

PT imo, is perhaps a top 5 QB in the USA, a shoe in for KY MR Football with intangibles and "name" attachments that would usually suggest he would be on this list. I have just witnessed the Big 10 up close this yr and PT could step in right now on any of those teams and be a Heisman candidate by his JR yr, JMO.

First and foremost, PT is a great kid and will be a great college QB, unfortunately, UK just isnt as sexy as Auburn when it comes to football. Zeke is a protype size kid to play D1 but he is not the QB that PT is. If PT had verbally commited to Alabama, LSU, etc then he would probably be #1 QB prospect in the nation imo. Its all about exposure, its all about the media and UK just doesnt get the viewers on Sat. Maybe the Rivals folks are Democrats and PT will go to Lex and put UK on the map for football and show them all that they were wrong despite the school he plays for. :thumb:

But he didn't get offered from those schools so its hard to say.

I saw the game last Friday....in 3 years PT and KB will have more much on field success than the Elite 11 will predict.

 

They both have finesse and arm strength. I was very impressed with their speed and willingness to run the ball.

 

This will be a good one to look back on.

I read the updates coming out of Pepperdine this summer and I was able to catch some of the television coverage (i love my DVR) I noted then that a lot of emphisis was placed on non football stuff when guys were making ratings. The articles talked a lot about how impressed the coaches were with Zeke studying in the lobby at a late hour. Nice to see, but what does that mean. Was he the only one up late studying? Was his study methond effective and efficient? Was it intentionaly done in public so that it would be noticed?

I know a guy who has given millions to charity over the years and very few know it. I know a lot of folks, especialy at this time of year, who give a little and everybody knows about it. Who is the more cheritable giver?

 

I also know what I see on the football field. Pat Towles and Zeke Pike both have exceptional skills to play the quarterback position. It would be difficult to rate ones skills over the other, they are that close in size and talent. On a football field, playing with ten teammates, in a game, Pat Towles is miles ahead of Zeke Pike at this point. He is simply a much better QUARTERBACK. That word implys much more than physical talent, and I am still amazed that people who are paid money to analyze such things continue to miss so badly on this part of the game.

 

For both young men I wish the best. I feel like Zeke has a wounderful opportunity ahead and needs to take advantage of the opportinity given. I hope he florishes in an environment of structure and rules. For Pat I hope that UK finds a way to recruit and develop some lineman, or it could be a long four years.

Offer list has a ton to do with recruiting rankings though. Even guys who commit early are usually downgraded because the websites want suspense at the end of the recruiting season.

 

Espn usually ranks guys higher that play in the ESPN under-armor all-american game. Granted there are thousands and thousands of boys that play football across the country, how accurate are they expected to be?

Pat Towles has an offer from Arkansas and maybe if he didn't commit so early he would have a lot more offers, but every recruiting service knows they miss a lot! Some kids get the exposure and the five star rankings and do nothing. I believe i seen that Andrew Luck was the number 95 or around ranked quarterback coming out of high school. They project but they don't see the work that these young men put in to get better and prepare themselves! One thing I do like is on Espn they usually go back and look at top recruits and see where they are and a lot of them never make anything of their abilities.

I don't know about Wright but Towles is 169/261 (62%) for 3637 yards with 41 tds and 1 interception.

Seems like both Bama and AU are pursuing Winston hard.

 

But Auburn's offensive woes, as well as possible off-the-field problems involving Pike, may have forced the Tigers to take a closer look at the quarterback position.

But how many of those kids are in state players for those school or really want to go to a school that specializes in their major or has always wanted to go to that school. I get what your saying but those are all great schools and a scholarship their likely means they will be fine even if they don't play on Sundays.
