Track the NL Central Champion Reds (Week 1)

So I was reading the ESPN recap of the game and they mentioned that the Reds had only met the Brewers twice on opening day. Their other meeting was in 2000, which was also Ken Griffey Jr.'s first game as a red. That was also my first ever trip to opening day, I was 15 and took the tank bus down to Covington from Independence. ESPN also went on to talk about that game ending in a 3-3 tie because the game was rained out. Which was also the only tie either team has ever had on opening day, I never realized my first opening day was so relevant other than the start of Ken Griffey's sad stay in Cinci.

It was only the 2nd game against the brewers but 5th against a Milwaukee club.

But the 2000 game is still the only opening game for either ball club to end in a tie. I always just thought it was cool because it was Griffey Jr.'s first game as a Red.

Cardinals lost in extras. :D

What is Chris Carpenter going to tell his son???

Cardinals lost in extras. :D

Awwwl that's too bad.

The 2 back to backs were probably no fun, but you can't ask for a better start to the season than the Reds got today. I've never seen a team get this many clutch wins.

What one? :D

 That just makes an opening day win even better.

I personally think BP will have no problem getting a nice deal somewhere should the Reds not be willing to give it to him..Off the top of my head Dodgers, Mets, Tigers, Cardinals are all teams that would've willing to pay BP

I can promise you he won't be going to the Cardinals.

Awesome win today. I was watching it 7th period today, while the kids finished their WebQuest (sigh...week before spring break) and I felt like turning it off. When I got home I watched the last 2 innings and was glad that I did. Just one game, but its always nice to get a win on opening day.

Amazing day at the ballpark today! Crazy start back to back. 6 dingers. Some great defensive plays. Votto/Braun (two of the top handful of hitters in the game) both go yard. Down 3 in the 9th come from behind with a walkoff dinger w 2 outs! Dad and I jumped around like two 9 year olds! What a great way to start the season!

Stick, I'm tickled it turned out that way for you and your pop. Great memory.

What an awesome way to start the season.

Just read this thread & some posters are in mid-season form complaining about JPU, BP & others. It's awesome how, in game 1 of 162, people are able to draw so many conclusions. I love it.
