I have a programmable thermostat and no one has touched it for years out of fear (it is set on a very frugal setting).

I refuse to pay for parking unless it's a dire circumstance. I will always park free somewhere even if it involves a walk.

I will order my coneys the following way: 1 w/cheese and 2/without. I will take cheese from the single and put it on the other two.

 

Growing up my Dad taught me well. During a shower, he would make my brothers and I turn off the water while lathering up and turn it back on to rinse. He was Mr. Frugal.

January 1980: the Doctors of Dunk come to Cincy to play a bad UC team led by Jelly Jones. Youngsters can't appreciate this but it was early on for creative dunks and UL was the king of them. So it was a chance to go see them. So RE, another friend, and I get top-row tickets at the Coliseum. It had to be 5 degrees before the windchill. RE, true to his dad's teachings, decides we can park for free in COVINGTON and walk the Suspension Bridge. I think we thawed out at about halftime PLUS Louisville didn't have any dunks. Bad night.

 

With that said I do the same . I'll drive around awhile looking for free parking. Our dads grew up together so we have some similar beliefs.

 

I do not turn the shower water off but I do wipe the excess water off with my hand before I go to the towel. That way you get more use out of the towel before having to wash it.

Had an aunt that never drove out of sheer cheapness. Let all her friends and relatives drive her around to all of the grocery stores to get the great deals at each. For payment she would give the driver her change from the purchases; 6 cents, 40 cents, whatever coins she got back!

I'm not really cheap with anything honestly. If I want/need it I buy it.

If it is nice outside I will for games. Walking that bridge in the winter is brutal. I used to do it for the Bengals games.

I've gotten somewhat cheaper over the past couple of years and will likely be getting even cheaper with the way cost of gas is going. We aren't even into spring and gas is at 3.49 a gallon, not looking good. I've also cut back on eating out a lot more in comparison to what I used to and when I do eat out, I'm eating much cheaper than what I had been before too.

Why? They're perfectly reusable. If you think I have issues, you should have met my grandmother. She used to re-use bread bags.

 

That's nothing. I have an aunt that used to wash those Dixie plastic picnic plates and reuse them. What's worse, is that she would go to the dump and get plastic plates from there and wash them instead of buying new ones.

I'm cheap with parking as well, but if it's going to cost me $3 dollars to park 2 blocks away and save me ten minutes, I'm going to park 2 blocks away every single time. And I do.

I guess we all have our issues. For the most part I am not all that cheap and I could use some thrifty training, but with certain things I am. One thing is I hate to pay convenience store prices for drinks and such. I have been known to purchase a gallon of water at the convenience store when I stop for a drink while we were traveling. The gallons were like 70 cents and a 16 oz bottle was $1.29. It made perfect sense to me, but my wife thought I was nuts.

And Swamprat, my family saves plastic cups, plates, forks, knives, spoons...we wash 'em and use them again. :lol: We do draw the line at getting them out of the dump, though.

I once ran out of gas because a station down the road had it for a penny cheaper. My better half will never let me live that down, as well she shouldn't.
