Game is all about match ups and CovCath matched up well with Boone Co. Teams that give CovCath trouble have really good guard play. If CovCath can get past HC in districts then it is going to be about getting a good draw in regionals. Still think there is about 6 teams that could win the 9th.

CCH is playing with a lot of passion. This is the type of win that can really propel a team. Great win.

Any update yet on Boone's Montgomery?

Excellent win for the Colonels!

Good win for CCH and nice to see Schult bring energy and all out hustle that all on this team should exhibit every game - as most know defense, boxing out and rebounding are all about your effort and desire which all can do. IMO the big games (district and region) are going to come down to how effective this team can be against a zone defense (see results of 4th Quarter of Dixie game when not effective). Can they hit a few outside shots to loosen the zone thus allowing easier passes into their big men and penetration into the seams of the zone - if not it will be a long night. Also can they make their free throws like the Boone County game (not sure but somewhere around 70-75%) or revert back to the lower regular season free throw stats. If they can execute these then IMO they have as good a shot as any at winning this region.

Schult's defense was intense all night.

 

Schult (a.k.a. the Tazmanian Devil) brings a high level of intensity to his play. Connelly also is a force on defense. I love to watch Cubby guard his man away from the lane during free throws.

Once again this win by CCH proves that off the court stuff almost always means nothing on game day, and that is true IMO from high school to the pros. Good win for CCH. A much needed confidence booster.

 

Definitely sorry to hear about Montgomery. I saw the 10 points in the box score in the paper and was excited for him. I assume it was the same knee he hurt earlier in the year and was using a brace to try and make it through the year with before surgery. Best wishes to Travis.

This game was decided on hustle by CCH and missed free throws by the Rebels. Coach M has got to have trust in his bench when certain players aren't performing well enough to help the team. Crabtree and Brown were unstoppable when they would get the ball down low, but once again forced shots from the outside and not getting the rebounds did the Rebels in. Give CCH credit, because they came to play and seemed to win every lose ball scramble, while the Rebels seemed to be stuck in the mud with brick hands. All in all the important thing is that I'm praying Travis did not do any extra damage to his knee and still will make a full recovery after surgery.

What a sad moment in the game when Mongomery went down, what a fighter. He will be back on the court, if not for Boone, a collge team next year.

One challenge Boone has is that 3 of the 5 that are usually on the floor simply aren't that quick or fast. Loose balls, unless at their feet, are going to be a problem.
