February 2, 201115 yr UK football, nothing has changed. Joker is a joke, Kiffin a cheat, must be because of the USC Cheerleaders. http://www.hottestgirlsofcheerleading.com/2008/01/02/usc-cheerleaders-encore/
February 2, 201115 yr Serious question...... When did UK start out recruiting the USCs, Oregons and UTs of college football? Am I missing something? I know UK is close by but to EXPECT UK to land a top 50 in the nation recruit over quality programs is a little delusional is it not? Up until yesterday I was certain he'd go to UK until I started hearing the UT and USC rumblings and Lamar is a 3.85 student with a 22 on his ACT. Why in the world would he choose UK when he can go play somewhere much better? Smart choice made by a smart kid in my eyes.

UK is not going to get a great player over those type of schools, I don't care who the coach is. Apply this thinking to basketball and it is reversed. Why does UK get good players from other states? Same applies to football.

Well, football careers end suddenly. One wrong shot to a knee, shoulder, etc. and it's over. Then he's looking for a job and career. If he's interested in living and working in Ky after football, I'd venture that he'd establish a much better job connection network playing at UK than at USC. Of course if he's not interested in living and working in Kentucky after football or he believes he won't need those connections, then that point is irrelevant. But that point, along with the opportunity to get on the field faster at UK, the desire to make it easier for friends and family watch you play in college, and the desire to help improve one of your home state football programs are the only things I can come up with. I'd like to have seen him at UK, but if he wants to go to USC, nothing but best wishes for him from me. Congrats.

If it is such an absurd idea he would stay close to home or anyone would even think as such, why were you certain he would chose UK up until yesterday? Why did Brohm go to UL? At the end of the day we are talking about 18 year old kids. A lot of 18 year old kids like to stay within familiar grounds... happens in all facets of life and with a big chunk of recruits every season.
February 2, 201115 yr Let's see, live in Los Angeles for four years, or live in Lexington... looking outside, I agree with his decision.
February 2, 201115 yr Friends and family can still watch him play. On tv because USC is on every week. I do find it funny that people keep commenting about his family when they have no idea what his family situation is. If anyone thinks he can't come back to Boyle County and be employed you are mistaken. If you think he won't get a degree you are mistaken. Lamar grew up a USC fan as a child and has admitted it that multiple times. He received an opportunity to live his childhood dream and he is doing it. I don't see what UK can offer to out do that.
February 2, 201115 yr PurplePride I know you are Lamar's biggest fan and I have seen you state that you hoped that he wouldn't waste his talents at UK. I am also a Lamar fan and I am disappointed because I am also a UK season ticket holder and I was hoping to watch him play and cheer for him. I sit with friends from Boyle County and every time a BCHS kid makes a play when we cheer we yell "that's a Boyle County Boy". I wish Lamar the best. If that's his dream he needs to follow it. Kiffen is a big hot mess and I hate to see him in the middle of that. GO REBELS!!! GO BIG BLUE!!!
February 2, 201115 yr Nice article on the USCfootball.com website. http://usc.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1184219 USC currently ranked as having the #3 best incoming class. Only Alabama and Florida State rank higher. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/teamrank/2011/all/all
February 2, 201115 yr Had Lamar chosen UK I wouldn't love him any less and would have gone to as many games as I could to watch him play but yes, I would much rather see him on television playing in a BCS bowl game. I applaud his courage to not pick UK despite the tremendous pressure being placed upon him to play at UK and be the in state hero. I can't imagine the range of emotions he has gone through in the last month and I look forward to watching his progress.
