I wonder how much Holmes sharing a district with Covcath and Highlands will affect the interest. I know Coach Lickert wasn't too happy about being in that district before the drop to 4A.

What about RB coach Jason Moore? He is a Holmes and TMC grad, is known and respected by the kids. It would be a big step, but I think he would be a great choice!

No need to speculate. Ron Madrick will make the right decision. He knows the kids of Covington better than anyone.

 

That's a great point. And Ron has a whole lot of contacts throughout the state and region. He knows who would be the right fit for the situation.

Thought "districts" and "classes" were two different things. RETIRED was posting about 4A class I was assuming. When were these teams in a 3A class together? Must have been a few years ago. Of course I may be totally confused......which seems to happen more as I get older.

I graduated in 1998. That was the AAA distrcit at the time. If I am not mistaken it had a ton of teams. Highlands, Cov Cath, Dixie, Holmes, Simon Kenton, Ryle, and Scott. Campbell and Boone were the 4A district teams but they played the Lexington schools. Feel free to correct me but I am almost positive those were the district aligments at the time.

And Holmes, under Vandermeer, made the playoffs if I am not mistaken. Not sure about the time before him. I know they had some good teams I believe under Kenny Turner also. So yes, Holmes can compete.

This used to be the Northern Kentucky Class AAA district. Holmes and Conner and Ryle usually competed for the final two spots in the playoffs. Prior to this Newport and Lloyd used to be in this district as well.

My Jr season of '90, the AAA class was loaded. Highlands and CCH along with a very good Holmes team.
