Let me ask you a more simple question, Do you believe that people specifically move to and pay tuition to attend Highlands High School to play football for that school?

I have no problem. I find the outlook in Ft. Thomas comical, AKA, we win with this small 3A school draw and we are normally playing against schools with more D1 athletes.

Everything you listed deals with issues before the kids get to high school. What should these disgruntled schools do differently with the kids they have? Or, is it a lost cause as they just aren't going to beat Trinity?

 

Stop playing Trinity. That will solve the unable to beat them problem pretty quickly. It's as simple as going on strike against playing them. It has worked for unions (the rest of the big schools in KY in this case) for hundreds of years. Let me put it this way, if you took a poll of all the 6A schools in KY that was anonymous and asked two questions: (1) Do you feel like Trinity and St. X have an unfair advantage over all other schools in KY?, and (2) Do you feel like they should be excluded from the 6A championships? I would bet a lot of money that you'd get back nearly 100% "YES"'s for both answers. A sentiment like that can only be ignored for so long.

 

I have no idea how this will play out nor do I blame Trinity or St. X for what they have done. I am simply saying that this is going to come to an ugly head before too long.

Frankly, this is already happening, and at the JV/Frosh levels has been happening in-district for quite some time.

 

One thing I have full faith in....Regardless of the challenges, Trinity will find a way to play a great schedule, continue to improve and strive to be at the top of the football food chain in Kentucky, and maybe beyond. Just as in every aspect of the Trinity experience, the emphasis to be the best will still be there, and thinking "outside the box" will get us to the "next" level, whatever that may be.

 

If the schedule that I've seen is true, Trinity will be playing at a regional level and they're not cup cakes. So regardless of the outcome, it's exposure for Trinity, which could open up some new doors to even greater things.

 

If the desired effect of your solution is to eliminate Trinity from winning KHSAA championships, I doubt that effect will be realized. If it's to produce a W-L record for Trinity that has more L's on their record, it may. If it's to "humiliate" Trinity, or "put them in their place", I doubt the effect will be realized either.

 

If, in the hypothetical future, Trinity were to stop participating as a KHSAA member in the sport of football and/or other sports, I definitely think the results would be less than desirable for some of our current detractors.

It's well documented that Trinity does not do well beyond the boarders of KY. But that is a moot point. There is no doubt that within the borders, they are far and away the best. I don't think that they should be ostracized for simply putting their money where their mouth is and making a commitment to excellence in both the classroom and athletic fields. BUT that is not the point. The state has grown weary of their excellence. So I am possing the question, what happens to an excellent program when nobody cares? Does it continue to be excellent or does it lose steam because when there is no glory or admiration by your peers, how do you stay motivated. More over, what happens when you go from being simply an enemy to becoming an outcast to whom no door is open and no welcome is present? Like I've said, Trinity is a unique study in sports.

 

Please understand, I believe what Trinity and X are is what all schools should strive for. I am simply saying and expressing what I am seeing happen in this state in respect to these schools.
