What do football programs need to do RIGHT NOW to close the gap with the best teams in the state- Mayfield, NCC, Central, & Boyle included!

 

I could careless about Highlands or Trinity until they move to 1A. I'm pretty happy just as I am

The True family sold their house and moved to Ft. Thomas around two or three years ago.

 

Thank you ! I wouldn't be surprized if 90 % of tuition students have done the same thing , that is , moving to Ft. Thomas before they enter high school. (perfectly legal ).

 

Did 2 humped camel go to the BOE websight to inform us of tuition or to see where Highlands football players can be drawn from ? Is he trying to stir the pot or is he trying to educate us ? :lol:

Educate, because in another thread it was stated that the tuition rate is $5k, which it's not and that HHS only has ADA contracts with two districts, which is also incorrect. I'm just trying to show that yes HHS has a draw outside of Ft. Thomas that is available for a fairly cheap price and more than just 2 districts. I've never said HHS was doing anything illegal or against any rules, but some of the Birds supporters suggest as you seem to do in your post that because a student transfers prior to their freshman or after their freshman year this does not suggest a draw from outside of Ft. Thomas. I find that preposterous.

Yes I do and the Mitchell's did so that is not preposterous. Ft. Thomas is a nice place and people want to live there for many reasons including wanting their children play on a good football team.

What huffing and puffing? Enjoy your stay in fantasy land where if someone's 2nd cousing twice removed graduated from HHS then they have ties to the program. Where as long as a student spends a night in Ft. Thomas sometime during their highschool days they are homegrown and no one would ever move to Ft. Thomas for football. I chose to live in the real world and look at facts not a place where little blue bird fairies fly around and sprinkle blue bird fairy dust on the little boys from Ft. Thomas and those that are destine to end up there making them great football players!

2 Hump, why are you invading fantasy land with facts? Before you know it, you will be seeing evil fairytale creatures. I just don't understand why people from Ft. Thomas fail to admit that out of town players make an impact on their football program. Its not like they are breaking a rule.

As long as the impact isn't overstated I have no problem with it. Usually people think that a fair amount of the players are from outside of FT Thomas, which of course isn't true. It appears that less than 5% of the team is usually made up of those players who pay tuition or moved into the city for high school.

Both are big fish in a small pond. Both programs get kids for out of district because they are great places to be. But I will say this, Trinity is beginning to push an issue in KY. It has gone from the state doesn't like that they're beating them but is proud of them as a symbol of what can be to a much harsher dislike for them. People are starting to stop playing them. Outside of T's walls, very few like them. 6A is becoming an ugly mess that nobody wants to be a part of because you are nothing but a lamb to the slaughter (with the exception of X). It will not be long before nobody but T's district will play them, and not much longer till those teams in their district begin to loby the KHSAA to get them out. Pretty soon, KY will realize that the way to stop the monster that is T, (and could be X) is to starve them. Of course, I could be wrong, but even on this very pro-Trinity board, you can see general displeasure beginning to boil over (see the "Running up the score threads). JMO

I can tell you from 1st hand experience there are many reasons people move to Fort Thomas. I was one of them. My dad is a HHS alum and my mom is a Campbell County alum. We lived in Campbell County school district until 6th grade. My parents could not get a house of the same size and quality as they could in Campbell County because of the price and taxes. I played in the Red Devils Midget and Junior division. For 7th grade, my parents moved us to Fort Thomas and I started junior football on the green team. So technically, I was an outsider who moved to the city. Did I come to play football? You bet I did. But I also came because my parents knew Highlands has some of the best scores when it comes to teacher/student ratio, attendance, percentage of seniors to go to college, and percentage of graduates. Football was great and we won state. But guess what, I also went on to college to earn a degree and turned into a very productive citizen. Could I have done that at Campbell County? Yes, but most of my friends I had growing up did not turn out so great. Most did not go to college. At Highlands, all but one of my friends went on to college and are doing very well for themselves. So yes, Highlands recruited me. Did they physically call me and ask me to come to Highlands? No, they recruited me by having a great school system, great community, and a great football program.

How do you stop them? Not let them compete. There aren't enough schools to have a catholic league and there are not enough big schools to create a separate division. Just like 6 classes, I am afraid we have to play the cards we are dealt and do what we can to compete with them.

If the only tems that are willing to play T are in their district it becomes an eye sore. An eye sore will only last so long before the organization who that eye sore is a reflection upon must do something about it. I'm not suggesting that teams do this, or that it will for sure happen, but it is headed that way. The 6A state championship has become of less and less interest each year. The lack of parity (even to a small degree) is beginning to really hurt the perception of big school football in KY. The state is starting to stop championing its high school football ambasador to the country. More and more, the comment is becoming prevalant "They can't win outside the boarders of the state", a comment that is statistically true, and a reflection of a growing continget of detractors from them. Much like what happened to De La Salle in Cali, thay state is beginning to turn its back on the acomplishments of Trinity. In essance, Trinity is building a golden castle that nobody is in admiration of.

 

All of that said, there is probably not a coach, player, or school that wouldn't want to be in T's position. I am simply expressing what I see is a growing sentiment of the state.

So far the only facts that you have given me is the Mitchells. Do you have any other names over the years , that back up your statements.

It's really none of your business, but for your information , I was born and raised in Ft.Thomas and a Highlands grad .

 

It's not blue fairy dust it's the cool-aid (blue ) , and it's good.

 

The little boys , as you say , make themselves great football players . They spend all their time training to be better players , not getting on a message board trying to degrade other programs . ( Get the hint ?) :sssh:

See, to some people you would be considered to be an "out of Fort Thomas" player. That seems odd to me the way people define things. I went to Beechwood in the 5th grade but always considered myself a lifelong Tiger. Even today I wear my Tiger shirts when HHS plays Beechwood. Drives my kids nuts.
