As far as having ties to the Highlands football program , you bet I do !!

 

It's really none of your business, but for your information , I was born and raised in Ft.Thomas and a Highlands grad .

 

It's not blue fairy dust it's the cool-aid (blue ) , and it's good.

 

The little boys , as you say , make themselves great football players . They spend all their time training to be better players , not getting on a message board trying to degrade other programs . ( Get the hint ?) :sssh:

 

Just to name a couple of players off of top of my head, and this is in no way a complete list, Lorenzen, Scarlotto, Smith, Hamblin, and Bruns. Once again, this is in no way the complete list, but I am sure you know that. BTW, I think these players were all impact.

Thats the problem , nobody can come up with a complete list . If someone could we could divide that number into all that ever played football and we would have a rock solid percentage. The reason that nobody can , is because their aren't that many . My educated guess is that it is less 2 % that are tuition paying football players . Thats two players per 100 Birds, is it even worth mentioning ?

If the only tems that are willing to play T are in their district it becomes an eye sore. An eye sore will only last so long before the organization who that eye sore is a reflection upon must do something about it. I'm not suggesting that teams do this, or that it will for sure happen, but it is headed that way. The 6A state championship has become of less and less interest each year. The lack of parity (even to a small degree) is beginning to really hurt the perception of big school football in KY. The state is starting to stop championing its high school football ambasador to the country. More and more, the comment is becoming prevalant "They can't win outside the boarders of the state", a comment that is statistically true, and a reflection of a growing continget of detractors from them. Much like what happened to De La Salle in Cali, thay state is beginning to turn its back on the acomplishments of Trinity. In essance, Trinity is building a golden castle that nobody is in admiration of.

 

All of that said, there is probably not a coach, player, or school that wouldn't want to be in T's position. I am simply expressing what I see is a growing sentiment of the state.

When they are division 1 or professional football players they become worth mentioning. They have an impact in the programs Sucess.

Get me a list of tuition students and students that moved into Ft. Thomas upon entering high school and I will tell you. I guarantee you know of some. Why don't you let us know?

A little honest debate, this is the 2nd thread that has stated that HHS tuition is $5k.

From the Ft. Thomas BOE website:

Tuition Rates for 2009-10

Grades 1-12: ADA contract = $2,000; No ADA contract = $4,500

Kindergarten: ADA contract = $1,000; No ADA contract = $2,250

 

It was also justified in another thread that the only districts that HHS had non-resident pupil contracts with were Southgate and Dayton. Well how about we had the entire Kenton county public schools to that list. I'm still searching for all of the districts with non-resident pupil contracts with Ft. Thomas.

So by an HHS fan's admission and my research we've can say that a non-resident student from the following cities can attend Highlands for $2000.00, not quite the same as NCC:

Southgate, Dayton, Taylor Mill, Independence, Erlanger, Edgewood, Crestview Hills etc.

I'm sure there are many more but they are not easy to find online but a little honesty goes a long way. Just saying

Educate, because in another thread it was stated that the tuition rate is $5k, which it's not and that HHS only has ADA contracts with two districts, which is also incorrect. I'm just trying to show that yes HHS has a draw outside of Ft. Thomas that is available for a fairly cheap price and more than just 2 districts. I've never said HHS was doing anything illegal or against any rules, but some of the Birds supporters suggest as you seem to do in your post that because a student transfers prior to their freshman or after their freshman year this does not suggest a draw from outside of Ft. Thomas. I find that preposterous.

When claiming to "Educate," I would certainly request an accurate characterization of the post being impugned. There is no reference to $5k in the post and the reference to 2 districts is clearly limited to Campbell County.

 

Is there a "draw" to HHS from outside of Fort Thomas? Yes. Do I celebrate and encourage that draw from outside of Fort Thomas? Yes, whether via a kid that misses the 1st day of Kindergarten and spends the remaining 12.99999 years of school in Fort Thomas Independent Schools, a kid that starts at HHS as a Freshman or a kid that lives elsewhere and pays tuition to attend HHS until graduation -- regardless of whether that kid is a star football player, a player that contributes in practices or simply a kid that gets a great education and never attends a single football game.

Thomas to go to high school, then Highlands has drawn from my area. Also, I am sure there are tuition students as well. I would say the overall combination helps..Getting a great education and having the opportunity to win a State Championship are equal..If the education wasn't very good some of the parents wouldn't move to Ft.Thomas..It isn't all about football as you make it sound..

You know this how? It sounds like HHS has anywhere from 1-4 in any one year. How many players moved into the Lloyd district in grades 7-9? Ryle? Simon Kenton? Bellevue? Dayton? Camp Co? Scott? Dixie? Anyone else?
