What about the Trinity's and the X's of Ky football. Compare the percentages of D1 players on those two programs compared to the percentages of Highlands D1 players and you will be very surprized of these results. Yet , this is a HHS, Trinity thread and all the mud slinging is aimed at Highlands , what's up with that ?

 

The last I heard football is a TEAM sport , meaning ALL players must contribute to be a sucessfull program .

One last question , how many D1 (meaning they have had an offer from a D1 college ) is on this years state championship football team ?

 

 

At least two. Also, who is slinging mud. It is funny that Highlands fans percieve it as slinging mud when you bring up facts about the student draw of their program.

The reality is that there is nothing that they can do. As I said, everyone wishes they were in T's spot, but as I have also said, T is headed in a direction that is making them a man without a country in in KY. Do they care, probably not, but what happens to a program when it does nothing but win and nobody cares, or even worse, everyone just calls you a cheater or ignores you when you say you're a Trinity guy. What happens when being associated with Trinity becomes a bad thing?

 

Will this happen? I don't know, but I do think that Trinity provides a unique study of the perception of a sports program. Time will tell.

 

You bring up a good point, but I'm not sure that we can or should worry about it. It is important for all of us associated with Trinity to make sure that we keep doing things the right way. I am very confident that Trinity tries as hard as anyone to make sure that all employees of the school act in keeping with the regulations of the KHSAA. I know that the administration frequently reminds fans that they are to keep all activities legal. That won't stop some from making the assumption that we must be cheating. We can't do anything about that. When X was the only school with a really big size advantage people didn't seem to grioe so much because X didn't win as much as Trinity does. Having been around Trinity in one form or another for nearly fifty years, I know how hard the administration and faculty work to do everything associated with the school the right way. As far as others refusing to play us, I think it is unfortunate. The best way to beat us is to have your kids learn from experience what we do and our offensive and defensive schemes. Instead, far too many teams are taking a "we can't beat them so we won't play them" attitude. I think that conveying the message that they can't win (whether stated or just implied by the refusal to play) is worth a couple of touchdowns to us before the game ever starts. Financially it doesn't hurt us. The regional games, like last year against Elder and Cincy X are huge draws.

I would say Simon Kenton and Ryle are benefiting from an outside draw more than Highlands. Statistics show these are 2 of the fastest growing areas in the state. This has to help getting kids into school.

Is there open enrollment at Highlands and Northern KY? Can students go to any school they want without paying tuition or with paying tuition?

 

Independent school districts such as Ft Thomas and Ft Mitchell take tuition students if there is room (or if they're fast- I kid!).

 

Kenton County lets Kenton County students go outside of their district to other county schools if there is room for no fee.

 

Boone County does not allow kids to attend their schools unless they live in that district and it's not just open to anywhere in the county. Ryle kids have to live in Ryle's district. Conner kids have to live in Conner's district.

 

Not sure about Campbell County rules.

I would say you arew wrong. Ryle has a lower male population than they had three years ago due to a new High School being built and taking some of their draw. They can't take tuition students and they don't have open enrollment, so how could you possible make this claim. Unlike Ft. Thomas, you must live in Ryle's draw area to go to Ryle. Simon Kenton, on the other hand, would be more more arguable if Highlands didn't have kids on their team from the same county that Simon has open enrollment.

Each school district sets up their own rules and has to live by them - good or bad. Due to Boone's exploding population they've made the decision to not allow students from outside of the Ryle area to attend Ryle. Disadvantage for Ryle as more than a few Boone Countians would send their child to Ryle for various reasons. However, we can't complain about Highlands because of the rules Ryle has imposed upon them by their own school board.

 

Unless someone can show that illegal recruiting takes place then there's no issue with Highlands. Success begets success.

I would think, from the way you described it on another post, that Jefferson County should allow their public coached to become aligned with public youth programs. They should keep anyone associated with private schools away from their youth programs. They should fight harder to keep their players. The state should also eliminate participating in KHSAA acitivities if you don't live in the state, much the same way that other state's have such as Ohio.

Everything you listed deals with issues before the kids get to high school. What should these disgruntled schools do differently with the kids they have? Or, is it a lost cause as they just aren't going to beat Trinity?

The answers to do with the kids that they have are easy. Longer hours, eliminate the undedicated, and better speed and agility training. However, speed and agility training didn't have Trinity playing seven sophmores this year. They were loaded with one of the most talented classes I have ever seen. Their draw is becoming ridiculous. Jefferson, Oldham, and Bullitt County schools need to do something to keep their players, let alone Indiana. I have seen Trinity be sucessfull for a long time with teams centered around catholic families that have been part of the program for years. This one wasn't. As far as scheme goes, there are many teams in this state that would love to be able to run a 4-3 cover 2. However, most no that they don't have the horses to stop the run in something this basic. However, there are teams out there doing everything they possibly can, including looking at chages that would help their sucess in ever area possible, to make beating Trinity a possibility.

I think that the goal of Jefferson Public should be to keep every public middle school football player.
