I have no ties to either of these 2 teams...but correct me if I am wrong...but didn't Male beat Trinity in basketball ( Regionals ) and baseball ( Regional Finals I believe)? Believe the Rocks were heavily favored to win both of these.....that's why you play the game!! Still think Trinity beats them handily.

You don't make it to the finals without being very good. Trinity is the obvious favorite, but there are a few trophies on display at Trinity where another team was an even more "obvious favorite" than Trinity is this year. I'm thinking of 94, 05 and 08. To win Trinity just needs to maintain focus and keep doing the things that got them to the cchampionship game. For Male to win, they need to focus on the things that got them to the championship - and have a little luck. My pick is Trinity by a couple of touchdowns, but don't count Male out of this.

The only problem is: Male got to the championship game because the five best teams were on the other side of the bracket. No disrespect to Male... facts are facts! Male did a great job in the playoffs playing the teams that were put in front of them. I really like the direction the new coach is going with the program. With the new district alignment, I am going to enjoy competing with them year in and year out. Now, they will face a team that is faster, stronger and with an offensive and defensive line like none they have not seen this year. But! Anything could happen... the ball has a different shape than any other sport. Trinity will have to show up and stay focused to bring home #20! Coach Beatty and the coaching staff will make sure of that!! Good luck to both teams and I hope everyone has a safe trip to Bowling Green. Trinity 48 - Male 13.

Trinity is heavily favored but what about the Bowling Green Curse over the Shamrocks?

* Case in Point- September 24, 2010 Travis Wright is ill and Jackson Noe couldn't get the high powered offense going as T QBs go 11-24 for about 100 yards and 2 INTs and eek out a 14-12 win over the Purples of Bowling Green.

* December 5, 2009- St X wins state championship at first meeting at Bowling Green 34-10.

* 2008- Trinity survives wind and rain to beat Bowling Green in a late night- ( i might have this year wrong)

* Add to it the September 5th, game in 2005 against Montgomery Bell just an hour south of Bowling Green in a 17-13 LOSS and it seems like Trinity doesn't travel well down south, especially in Warren County.

What is waiting for Trinity this trip down Interstate 65? I think a bunch of Male fans and adopted Male fans. ( Highlands plays the game before )

Will more than Marshall Stadium's capacity ( 7K) show up in Bowling Green on Saturday? Based on post #34 and #41, I think not.

I have said it before-watch out for Male. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Remember that a bunch of the Male kids played in the state championship in baseball in June so they are not intimidated by the championship run.

Nice try jimmyref! The difference between baseball, basketball and football is night and day! Even YOU should know that... This ROCKS are loose, hungry and focused! Coach Beatty will see to that! Even your witchery can't overcome the Rocks!

Oh that one hurt.

Just because some T supporters may get "carried away " at times don't hang that on all of us.:eyeonyou:

Male will get our total respect and preparation as has every other opponent we meet. They obviously did not make it to the Finals by luck.

That's why I said some. C'mon man!

Go Dawgs

Did Henderson do anything to merit a ranking?

Did Seneca, or PRP, or Eastern, or Manual for the time they were. Was I wrong in what I said?

My point is the poll doesn't really mean squat beyond the few top spots

Henderson beat Fern Creek 56-35 and lost to Male 14-7 in overtime.

Looking at common opponents ... Manual beat Fern Creek 59-14 and beat Male 21-14. Seneca beat Fern Creek 49-21. Eastern beat Fern Creek 60-20 and lost to Male 35-28. Pleasure Ridge Park played Christian County a heck of a lot tougher than Henderson did, just the week after Christian pounded Henderson, and later beat Manual and played St. Xavier tough.

As far as I can tell, those teams deserved to be ranked above Henderson.

First I am shocked Male(whom I like and root for)has made it to the finals being they were beaten by Dayton Dumbar, who only beat one other team with a winning record.

I want Male but do not seeing this one being any closer then three or fours scores.

What are these things you call basketball and baseball?????

First, I wasn't trying to argue that Henderson should have been ranked at all much less over any of those teams. My post was in response to Centrerock dismissing them as not good because they weren't in the BGP poll. You can admit it if you want but the poll has a Louisville/Lexington/NKY bias. What everyone knocks the AP for the BGP is not immune to. Was I wrong when I said the majority of those that vote in the BGP have never seen Henderson play? You look at scores and think that should tell the tale. You say PRP played CC alot tougher. While that might look true by the score it doesn't when you look at the stats. 1. Henderson played CC at CC and PRP got them at home. It was Henderson 3rd game with a QB starting his fourth game. Henderson defense played as well as PRP's but their offense let them down. Again a QB starting his 4th game throws 3 int's. That was the difference in the game. PRP also had losses to Doss and Butler. If they were the 10th best team in 6A then it was a sad state for 6A football in Kentucky.

Again my point was beyond the top few teams the poll means squat. This bad Henderson team was a missed FG away from going to Semi-State.

Jimmy Ref, hey don't feel so sad and be so negative about the Rocks just because another Northern Kentucky (CINCY AREA YOUR HOME TOWN AREA) team was beaten by the Rocks and your beloved Tigers were pummeled by the Rocks twice, don't worry Jimmy Ref just be happy for the Rock's.

As a relative of a Male alum, I would liek to see male win this game. However, I have seen Trinity play twice this year and I think they are just too much for Male to handle. In an optimistic fashion I am keeping the score somewhat close. Trinity 35- Male 20

If the LIT ratings are anywhere close to right then this should not be a game, but again, for some reason I think H keeps it close (2 TDs). On a side note, the best football game I have ever seen live at any level was the Trinity/Male playoff game in 2006. Male was probably 6 or 7 TDs better than the state runner-up that year.

You can admit it if you want but the poll has a Louisville/Lexington/NKY bias. What everyone knocks the AP for the BGP is not immune to.
I'm from western Kentucky, and even I can admit that in 6A football, we are well behind the rest of the state in most years. If the 6A poll has a bias towards Louisville, Lexington and northern Kentucky, it's basically because that's where most of the top teams are located. Our playoff results, for the most part, indicate that.

Even if the defenses played relatively even, it's evident that PRP's offense was much more productive. And it wasn't like one of those games was early in the year and one was much later .... they were a week apart.

PRP wasn't a great team, but they did beat Manual and nearly beat St. Xavier late in the year, then pounded Central in the last game of the regular season. I'm guessing that at the time, that was enough on the resume to land them a #10 ranking. That says something about 6A outside of two or three teams, and it also says something about how watered-down we have it with six classes.

Didn't he leave a few years ago to take a head coach position and it didn't work out?

I think he likes the OC position.

Doesn't matter what he left to do or how it worked out. Coach Cov is the offensive mind of T Football and what is has become today!

I think Swaback (SP) gets the job. Or maybe me. :idunno:
