The Ryle/Simon Loser

Featured Replies

Do you think that the team that loses the Simon/Ryle playoff game will have had an unsuccessful season based on the loss?

I am going to say for Simon yes a loss to Ryle equals an unsuccessful season but for Ryle I say no because of their win over Highlands.

Thoughts? Agree? Disagree?

The only argument for an unsuccessful season for SK would be the lack of a marquee win.

I am going to assume that both teams have a goal of winning the state championship. So, from an internal standpoint, I am sure whoever loses this game will consider their season a disappointment. However, I think making the Elite 8 is something to be proud of and build on. Both very good teams who will battle down to the wire on Friday night.

From the standpoint of advancing in the 6A playoffs, I say that it's a disappointment for whichever team comes away with the loss. I'm pretty sure that both schools are counting on getting to Bowling Green and representing the East.

I don't know if I would say that it is an unsuccessful season for which ever one loses, but if one was, I would say it is more likely so with Simon Kenton due fairly close to the same reason that Clyde believes. I would say that the loser will be very disappointed, due to the winner being one game away from the championship. The further one advances and loses in the playoffs, the harder it is for the losing team.

Anytime you lose and your season ends, well thats rough. When young players involved, but its also hard on the parents/fans. There can only be one winner. But you also can look back later and be happy with the effort, now this takes time for me.

I'm lookin forward to this friday.

Coming into this season a lot of people thought this would be a down year for SK with lose of so many good players last year. This is the team Ryle has been waiting for since 2006. I think it would be a bigger lose for Ryle.

I'd have to some what agree with your assesment, for those that have forgotten back in July and August the majority of posters on BGP said SK's lack of an offensive line was going to be their down fall and for the first few weeks it looked like that could hold true but they've improved all season and had a good year. Ryle on the other hand, well the majority of posters thought that NKY 6A was theirs to lose, and they accepted the challenge and did what they needed to do to accomplish what they have this season in reaching the 3rd round of the playoffs and winning the NKY 6A district title. So while I think a loss for SK would be extremely disappointing I'll have to agree that it would seem more disappointing for Ryle sense they've been given the higher expectations all year long.

Until these teams start challenging X and T perennially, they are unsuccessful; neither team has closed the gap, but they have so much potential that is unrealized!!

This will be the third straight year SK goes farther in the playoffs than Ryle!

So that should mean Ryle will very disappointed.

Tha wasn't the question! Can you respond to the QUESTION?

As some have mentioned, if SK loses it will be a disappointment as they have no big wins this year, but Ryle at least has the win over Highlands under their belts.

I did I said Ryle will be VERY DISAPPOINTED!

I was not aware of that fact. To answer the question of the thread, the loser will have had an unsuccessful season.

Ryle will have a tough challenge to close the gap until they start allowing tuition students.
