As for the car companies ... what was Obama supposed to do, let them go bankrupt and put thousands upon thousands of people out of work? If Obama had chosen that approach, he would've been vilified for it by the same people who hammer him for the bailout.

He never said it wasn't, only thing he tied to Obama was Obamacare.

All in all I think it was a good night for both sides. While all of the candidates I voted for didn't win I'm happy with the election results. I have always believed that the government shouldn't be controlled by one party. I am a strong Obama supporter but I've said in the past that I thought him and the Democrats where moving too fast on some things.

 

I definitely happy with the local results in Richmond. The house was cleaned out and now maybe Richmond will get back on track.

 

While I didn't vote for Paul I didn't believe a lot that was said about him as I did with Obama.

 

My earnest hope is for the country to come together to try and get everything back on track. But, if the past is any indication the campaigning for 2012 will start soon and nothing will get done.

With her gone and the Republicans actually having to participate in government, this night could turn out very well for the Democrats long term.

See, I don't think the anti-Democrat paradigm is overstated, at least for Kentucky. Jack Conway just wasn't a good candidate for the Dems. Not only wasn't he a good candidate, but he ran a terrible campaign. From his flap at Fancy Farm to Aqua Buddha, he proved over and over he was on the wrong track. His last debate proved how little he connected with the people as he couldn't articulate his views as well as Paul. I think Mongiardo would have run a tighter race with Paul.

 

:thumb: Conway ran one of the worst campaigns I have ever seen. He never connected with the voters in Kentucky. As for the Aqua Buddha ad, I think that was the act of a desperate man. I believe polling showed him way behind and he no choice but to do something drastic. IMO If that race were within 3 or 4 points, Conway never runs that ad.

 

I agree with Rockmom on Paul. He is one of the scariest politicians I have seen in a long time. But as scary as he is, his message about controlling spending and the deficit hit home with me. That was what this election was all about Paul talked about it and Conway didn't. We see the results. I wish Paul the best on making headway on the spending/budget issue and will hope that the rest of the Senate keeps him from going off the deep end.

That would be correct. Besides rockmom we covered that particular topic and you even agreed with me on the fair tax after I explained some of the particulars.

You have been consistent on this from the primaries, and I have been saying that the perfect storm happened in Kentucky for Paul. He ran against a weak establishment opponent in the primary in Grayson, and then faced off against another weak opponent in Conway. Paul smoked him as I thought he would. I understand why you and RM may have concerns, but I say I am glad you are concerned, Washington needs some serious shaking up and some outside the box thinking.....we shall see.

The sad part is that when I bought my current home 16 years ago, I was not within 10 miles of the Louisville city limits. After the Metro Louisville debacle, now when I am on I-64 west and enter Jefferson County and see the welcome to Metro Louisville sign I just shake my head and long for the good old days. I live in a safe neighborhood with zero crime, and have spent thousands and thousands of dollars getting my home the way I wanted it. In todays economy, I can't afford to move nor do I really want to.

I love Louisville. I used to live in the old county where there was nothing but suburban malaise and disconnection; now I live in a beautiful, active and crime-free neighborhood in Old Louisville. Couldn't be better.
