With 0% of precincts reporting CNN has already projected John McCain to win the U.S. Senate race in AZ...:lol:.

I guess it's a big win for the Tea Party, but I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised that Rand Paul won. Kentucky has had two Democratic senators in the last 54 years. To me it would have been a surprise if Conway had won, no matter the current anti-Obama, pro-Tea Party feelings among the electorate.

 

But to be honest one of those two served for what seemed like 100 years. Who was the other one than Ford?

Chandler and Barr are in a dead heat for the House seat.

I don't necesarily agree with all the GOP brings to the table but I am a proud political incorrect anti liberal and to me the 2nd bestthing about tonight is that Nancy Pelosi has to be choking about now. I'll bet the expression on her face was a site to behold when it was projected that the GOP gained control of the house. :lol::lol:

Now, the #1 plus this night has brought is I don't have to watch all those lame, aggravating campaign commercials on t.v.. I believe ALL can agree on that.

I don't look at it from that perspective. I actually think Congressman is my favorite vote to cast. Electing a congressman is the most personal vote I make. A Congressman represents the people in my area, not the State as a whole. I personally think it's more important than US Senator.

So how does a Tea Party candidate (now elected official) like Mr. Rubio advocate cutting taxes and repealing the estate tax , opposing cap and trade, and indexing the AMT without doing what he/they rail against ie raising the deficit? That's what I'm going to be interested in seeing. If they can do it I'm all for it. From what I've read, though, it seems like you can't have both.

 

How do they do it? By cutting spending, no other way. Will they do it? No.

One of the most amusing articles I read all year was a Time magazine reflection on Rand Paul's chances of winning the election. The jist of the article was that any other state or even any other time period prior to about 10 years ago, Rand Paul wouldn't have been given a second look and probably not even made it close to being elected. However, the state of Kentucky has become so anti-democrat and furthermore, anti-Obama policies and thus they are willing to elect such a radical Republican over anyone willing to run against him as a Democrat.

 

While the article had its slant, many truths existed in it.

 

See, I don't think the anti-Democrat paradigm is overstated, at least for Kentucky. Jack Conway just wasn't a good candidate for the Dems. Not only wasn't he a good candidate, but he ran a terrible campaign. From his flap at Fancy Farm to Aqua Buddha, he proved over and over he was on the wrong track. His last debate proved how little he connected with the people as he couldn't articulate his views as well as Paul. I think Mongiardo would have run a tighter race with Paul.

So the GOP takes back the House, and the Senate stays with the Dems.............what now? Should be very productive days ahead on the "Hill". :ohbrother:

I am simply astounded that we look to continue under Democratic leadership in Louisville. I really thought this would be the Republican's race to lose. I guess I was swayed by the BGP anti-Abramson sentiment. :lol:

I am not so sure it was BGP's anti King Jerry sentiment was it was mine.

I am actually more perturbed by Tina Ward-Pugh continuing in representing my district.

I think he actually supports the Fair Tax not the Flat Tax.

 

 

That would be correct. Besides rockmom we covered that particular topic and you even agreed with me on the fair tax after I explained some of the particulars.

R(TP) - Rick Scott leads D - Alex Sink by less than 200,000 votes in the Florida Governors race. If Sink wins, she'll have to deal with a Republican Legislature (>2/3 majority in both houses), as well as a Republican CFO, AG, and Ag. Comm. For all essential purposes, she'll be a lame duck from day 1.

We will finally see some balance. Our best times have come with divided government. Give one party all the power and they inevitably screw the pooch. We have seen it twice in the last 10 years.

Pelosi's diminishing stature doesn't hurt my feelings ... Reid's wouldn't have, either, if the Nevada Republicans hadn't gone for a kook.

 

The Democrats learned a lesson tonight, and I suspect the President did, too.

And what about Alvin Greene getting 27% in the SC Senate race?? I'm not sure he was even aware he was in the race, but a lot of folks just go in and pull the lever. A dead man could get votes in some of these districts, or actually elected in Chicago??
