One annoucner in the left channel and one announcer in the right channel. That would get annoying but not as annoying as the words coming out of their mouths.

Wow, this is to funny and unprofessional even for homers but certainly funny unless your team was on the short end of it. Errie similar to the meltdown the Lone Oak announcers had VS Green County with less than 10 seconds to go in the game when the clock operator at Green stopped the clock to allow Green to lineup and run the final play for a TD. That is on Ihigh and worth a watch or listen, they have a equally as bad meltdown that saw the police come into the pressbox to ensure they did not attack the clock guy or get attacked.

Don't blame them, refs should be fired for crying out loud!

Horrible, horrible, horrible call. No excuse.

I agree. The refs cannot have known the rule and made that call. The ball landed about 4 yards behind the QB. I like the homer call. Throw in some table slapping and an offer of eye glasses to the refs for good measure.

Please tell me they were from Jersey. That's what it sounded like.

 

That was worse than Benny Vest screaming in our ears at the end of the '87 AA State Title game. (Of course Benny was screaming in exaltation on the Blocked EP)

They were from Massachusetts. Almost as bad.

 

I don't have a problem with it at all. They are homers, not professionals. If they want to act that way, that's fine. They aren't doing for anyone else other than the home team so who cares.

The ugly part imho was the fact that there were 4 refs and not 1 stepped up to the plate. Frankly, I question whether any of the 4 knew the rule. I heard Howie, Dandy Don and Gifford go crazy when Lem Barney picked up a ball that had been touched, but not blown dead. They yelled and made all sorts of cracks about Barney trying to con the refs. When a touchdown was verified for Barney, they were stunned. Not one of the three knew the rule, but they were quick to judge the situation. On another night, a team an inch from their own goal took an intentional safety so they could kick off from the 20 rather from their own end zone with only a short drop. The trio again had no idea what was happening when the qb ran to the back of the end zone, eating up valuable seconds before stepping out the back of the end zone. It isn't just local announcers who sometimes go off the deepend.

There is a correct way to act in a pressbox and there is this way to call a game. It doesn't matter if its the home team, the visiting team, or a team playing at a neutral site...you just don't act that way. Yeah you can somewhat get loud but there are still pressbox rules against loud cheering no matter who it is.

I think "Nuts and Bolts..." would apply to Lone Oak too.
