Not sure if it's been mentioned or not, but Ryle (with the win) becomes just the 2nd NKY team (not named Covcath) to beat the Birds since 2002.

 

What a run. 8 years, and only 3 nky teams have beat the team from Ft. Thomas.

That's not entirely true. If you continually get beat up and continue to play the team that does the beating, 1 of 3 things can happen.

 

1. You can continue to get beat up

2. You can get better and start doing the beating

3. You can take your ball and go home and stop the beatings completely

 

Option 3 is exactly what Coach Mueller and the BlueBirds have chosen to do with Colerain. And that's ok, who can blame them? They aren't going to beat the Cardinals regardless of where the game is played and they need to focus on staying healthy and making their run at state championships.

This relates to the Ryle HIghlands game how? How many championships do the Cardinals have exactly CardinalsFAn (or should I say how many less do they have than Highlands). Trying getting more than one first. Perhaps the Cardinals should focus at making their run at state championships (or at least the playoffs unlike last year when they stayed home) rather than trying to get games against schools one fourth of their size. Maybe it is Coach Bolden who should be calling Dale for advice about how to win championships at least until he gets at least one or even out of the region--hmmmm...

I do recall people saying Ryle's coach didn't shake Dales hand after the loss earlier this year.

 

I doubt either accusation is true.

Sheehan plays WR and did play last night but dropped the one or two passes that were thrown to him...one big one late in the game that would've put the Birds on the Raider 2 or 3 yard line. Highlands ended up scoring that drive, but could've definetly used the extra time that that play would've given them.

Congrats again to Ryle on the huge win. This is a great springboard for them as they enter the playoffs.

 

As for Highlands, well, I think this is EXACTLY what they needed. I do not believe this is what any team in 5A wanted to have happen. Once they get healthy, if it's in time, the Blue Birds will Waltz to their 20th state title in school history.

 

This is great for KY football as both teams will enter the playoffs on fire for completely seperate reasons.
