Yeah, on tv as he plays for a school that goes to BCS bowls like Oregon, Florida or USC.

 

I would rather he go to school that wins regularly in football and puts linebackers in the NFL as linebackers but I expect him to go to UK.

In 2006 Williamsburg's Aaron Root had 32 against Harlan. He had 21 solo and 11 assists. Unfortunately for the Jackets that night, if he wasn't in on the play it didn't get done as they lost a close one. He also had all 3 of the Jackets touchdowns that evening.

As I alluded to earlier, it would be too subjective in determining tackle amounts. I can all but bet if it were a KHSAA record, it would probably be well in excess of 32.

Daddy Cat you may remember that Root kid as he had 24 tackles a touchdown and threw a 2 point conversion against you all in that mud bowl at the Burg that year. He has a little brother thats a senior this year that had 15 tackles against Lynn Camp this year. As always that game is a fun one to watch as both teams leave it all on the field!

Curious as to if the tackles can't be kept for record that this became a story. A credited tackle is a tackle in the stat, but I guess if someone really wanted to, they could credit a kid with a ton of tackles, set the record and that would be that until someone else did the same. Soon a kid would have 50 tackles in a game and around 500 for the year.

 

Too much controversy would ensue for them to keep a record like that, I guess I see the point.

the way I would count tackles may be different than the way you do.

1) A solo tackle is recorded when a player single handedly takes down the ball carrier.

2) An assisted tackle is recorded when a player takes down the ball carrier with help from another player.

 

How do you tally things?

Kudos to the kid for the accomplishment. With that said, I never really get too excited over recorded tackles on the high school level because of what you mentioned. Some will give 1/2 credit for a tackle when just jumping in on a pile. Not saying this is the case here, but there is no defined formula all local stat guys go by.

Yeah, UK has really struggled to put defensive players in the NFL...

I think Sam Flynn had at least 30 for CovCath in 06 whe they beat Johnson Central in the playoffs.
