The key words that I used were start in the NFL as a linebacker. He is 6'3" 240 pounds so he will not be moved to safety like Woodyard and McRee were so take those two off of the list. And yes, I know they both have had great NFL careers but not at linebacker. I remember Marty Moore's brief career and don't know who the other guy is so that means 2 UK linebackers started at linebacker in the NFL. Is that correct? 2? Yeah, I trust that school with my NFL goals. USC sent 3 linebackers who start in the NFL in the first round. Just saying.

Right away you can see that there is a mistake in the way the page looks. No one turns in all solo tackles. So therefore you can't declare "They report 129 solo tackles. Shenanigans!"

 

If you had read the earlier posts in the threads or clicked the AM story you would have seen that from the first Lamar was credited with 32 TOTAL tackles, 19 solo and the rest were assists.

 

There fore one can deduce that from the chart you posted it was not "Shenanigans" but a bad posting of the tackles. obviously it's 129 total tackles on 56 offensive plays plus kickoffs and punts. That's more possible especially when you consider the way Boyle gang tackles. How you could not catch that the report on the board is off is beyond me when no one is credited with assisted tackles. That immediately tells you that the posted report is a mistake but the earlier reports are not necessarily so.

 

BTW, the stats keeper is a member of this board in good standing and he'll address this I'm quite sure later on. You have always been a great poster but your choice of words offends me and your leap to conclusions that the #1 LB recruit in this state and one of the top recruits in this NATION can not have 32 tackles shocks me. :irked:

If you're going to go that far back, I'd have grabbed Frank LeMaster before Kovach. He at least had one pro bowl to his credit and played in a Super Bowl.

This past week horse hash has been one of my favorite meals since it is obviously Boyle County Hate Week on message boards all across the state. If you can play in the NFL they will find you. Of course the somes nations best programs will produce the some of the best and NFL starters more so than less sucessful schools. Kentucky will never be on that level if they can't get the top in state players. Michah Johnson got drafted for example, so its not that it's impossible coming from UK. GM's and owners in the NFL want players that can play regardless of where they went to school. Teams like USC and Flordia do not have some secret linebacker drill that puts kids in the NFL, they have the option of recruting and landing the best talent out of high school.

Actually Micah DID NOT get drafted. He was picked up as an undrafted Free Agent. That alone might be the winner in the argument Purple was making.

I definitely understand that if you have talent they will find you. The point I am making is do people honestly think UK will prepare him better for the NFL than Florida, USC or Oregon? Yes, they have better talent coming in but that talent still needs to be molded and prepared to play at even a collegiate level before the NFL level. Just seems to me that the BCS schools with winning programs will better prepare him for the NFL than UK. Look at Trevard Lindley and Andre Woodson. Their draft status dropped from their junior year to senior year. Leaving UK a year earlier would have been better for them than staying for their senior year to improve their status. My whole focus is on where he can go to attain his NFL dreams and I just don't see UK as being a better place for him than Florida, USC or Oregon and even Tennessee and Michigan for that matter. All of which are in his final 7 choices.

 

Again, that being said I still think he ends up a Wildcat.

Didn't say it couldn't happen. Just highly unlikely given the the number of plays ran by East Jessamine. Especially given the high number of tackles credited in the game.
