Coach Wirth has publicly said this is not a moral victory so I'll just take both of those words out of the equation. If the question is "What did the game reinforce for the coaching staff, prayers, and fans of CCH?" the answer is that they are back on track and their disciplined approach to every ounce of practice and game preparation is paying off. Simply put, they can now begin to "know" what until now they have "believed".

If you consider losing to your rivals a victory then so be it. To add onto this question, are moral victories good?

While I don't know what the mood was at Dixie Chili, I think there were plenty of players that were not pleased with the team's performance. I don't get into the "moral victory" thing, so I won't call this a moral loss. I have to believe the overall performance displayed last night, and the team's focus on the games ahead, will help them use this as a learning experience, and move on. There is still plenty of work to do.

I know a lot of Highlands fans enjoy the blowout wins...and I like them too. But wasn't it great to feel that old "HHS/Cov Cath titanic struggle" feeling once again? From my perspective anyway, it's not as much fun whipping up an opponent who is supposed to be your worthy adversary -- the Darth Vader to your Luke Skywalker -- the Lex Luther to your Superman. Even though it was a pins and needles ending, which we thought would never happen, wasn't it more fun...for both sides to have it end this way? Hope we see each other again in a few weeks. And I hope it's another good game...

Who benefits more from this close game: Covcath or Highlands?

 

Good point Walter, even with losing, Cov Cath benefits more from this than Highlands. Cov Cath lost to Ryle 61-0 in the early part of the season. Cov Cath has made good strides since then.

Nope. You play to win the game. Coach Wirth probably said it the best. It's a loss with a little silver lining. You can like the positives, but the negative the negatives can't be looked over. I don't think anyone on CCH's team went into the game last night thinking "Man I hope we keep it close".

Moral booster to a point yes.The colonels have found confidence which they have lacked for some time.I would like to see these guys rematch with some of their earlier defeats.It would be alot more respectable with La Salle and they would gain two more wins with the defeat of Ryle and NC.It will be interesting to see if they don't deflate for Dixie and X in the upcoming weeks. FYI,I will try to squeeze in on the CC side for the Dixie game. Go Colonels ! Keep atleast one more playoff game in Fort Thomas this year !!!

Probably but people needed to realize this Highlands team is not last years Highlands team. Still a very good fball team.

CovCath should be very proud of the way they played last nite, I too dont agree with moral victories. No such thing when a program has been there done that. The game and the final score was just what the Dr ordered for the Birds. The Blueboys have a little saying over their in Park Hills (someone help me here, dont know it exactly so I dont want to offend anyone) and they certainly followed it to the end last nite. I've never understood why people get upset with the term "moral victory." Heck yeah this was a moral victory and it can be used as a stepping stone.

 

I do find it odd that the only team that seemed to make mistakes tonight was Highlands.
