I don't know that I consider the Highlands game to be Cov. Cath's best of the season, but I would much rather that game be bumped than the Ryle or LaSalle games. The Birds won the championship game 50-0. The Cov. Cath. v. Highlands game went down to the final play.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh! But the implications of losing to the team from Ft Thomas in Football are just a weeeee bit different and carries just a tad bit of importance done ya think. JMO. How bout yours? LOL

I have had the discussion about whether Cov. Cath. is a "football school" or a "basketball school" on many occasions. I am old enough to remember the Colonels' basketball run in the late 60's early 70's. I still kind of lean toward "basketball school", but your point about the state championships is a good one.

Boy I remember listening to my am transister radio when the Voskul (sp)/John VonLehman teams were playing.

Bump away. It was one of our best games of the year.

No doubt baseball is the toughest of all to win especailly when it was 1 and out back some yrs ago. Not like now when its the best of series. There would have been many more baseball State Championships in NKY (BW, Highlands, CovCath) and others if the new format would have been in place back then. JMO.

 

BTW the Timmerman kid is a very good football player as my son had the opportunity to play with him in the Best of Bluegrass game. I think he could of been a beast at TE this yr for CovCath.

In Park Hills it is quite the opposite, there is swimming, baseball, and a bunch of other sports that people dont care about. And there is not swimming, baseball, and sports people dont care about season. In Ft. Thomas we enjoy rooting for a winning team in a sport that matters. (Neither team has won anything in basketball)
