Thanks. It sounds like Patrick really screwed up by thinking HT could make a bet with him to where Patrick could get his avatar back. Sounds like he needs to go back to the Reds #1 avatar. :lol: It also looks like HT needs to step up and honor his bet.

Cowherd disrespected the Reds the last two months of the season. His rants over the past two months only proved to me how ill informed he is. Yes, the Reds did not win in the playoffs but no one expected the Reds to beat the Phillies. Duh, Colin...you figured that out on your own did you? Most of his reasons why the Reds were a "fraud" were wrong and he clearly knew little about this team. The fun is going to be over the next few years as the Reds go on a playoff run. He is going to be exposed as the "fraud" he is as the Reds put up 90+ win playoff seasons year after year. Reds fans will have the last laugh on this - we just are going to have to wait a year before the fun begins. But mark my word - next year Cowherd will jump on the Reds bandwagon and pass it off as last year (2010) has nothing to do with 2011.

Was at the game also. 5th row behind Reds' dugout. Seeing 40,000 people wave towels was really a sight. Hamels was dealing tonight and the few balls hit hard by the Reds were right at someone. Rolen looked clueless beyond clueless.

 

I was at the game also, but not in nearly as good of seats. I have a different perspective on the towels from my seat down the left field line Section 110 (row LL) - when the towels start waving all you see is....towels. The view of the field was almost completely obstructed. I think the towels are a made for TV prop. The atmosphere at the game was fantastic. Nothing can beat a Reds crowd. The overwhelming majority of the fans in attendance were the kind of people you like hanging out with. Very little if any obscenity. I also love going to Bengals games, but any given Who Dey crowd will include about 5-10% absolute drunken morons.

 

The Reds won 91 this year and gave us a great ride for more than 6 months. I am glad Dusty is coming back. Are they a flash in the pan or is this the beginning of a great run? Only time will tell.

Fraud to anyone saying the Reds were a World Series contender. Who was saying that? But the Reds were the 3rd or 4th best team in the NL this year and calling them a fraud in that sense was way off target, especially when he would list reasons why the Reds were a fraud and was way off target in the majority of what he said. Yes, he was right the Reds were not a strong playoff team and we all knew that. In the end, his rants and use of the fraud label are going to become a huge irritant to him, if it isn't already. Reds fans will not let this go next year. And I am telling you, Cowherd will try to jump on the Reds bandwagon next year saying it is a new year. I hope Reds fans don't let him on.

I have hopes that we'll see Brandon Webb in a Reds uniform next season. I also have hopes Walt will sign a LF'er. I wonder what the plans for Alonso are. Lots of question marks and excitement going into the hot stove season.

The problem I have is Cowherd acting like the Reds were posing as the best team in the NL. While some were optimistic I'm not sure anyone truly believed they could win the NL. Where I believe he is wrong is the Reds won the division. If he was saying the Reds are a fraud because they can't win the WS, okay. But to say their a fraud when they win the NL Central??? By his definition, the Twins are just as fraudulent. Literally the same exact scenario and not a word about them.

 

The way he was using "fraud" was to say the Reds were not a good team AND were winning a terrible division. No one can dispute that the Reds had a good team.

Agreed. When I heard him, his basic arguments were that we: 1) Beat up on bad teams in a bad division. 2) Had a horrible record against other 1st & 2nd place teams. 3) Had only one legitimate star player.

 

I can't argue with him on any of those things. During his last rant, I was surprised to hear him say that we had some good, young talent & a foundation upon which to build; but still claimed we were the worst team in the playoffs. And we did nothing to prove him wrong.
