They need to try for the #2 seed, but they also deserve a day to rest. I don't think you saw Phillips hitting it either, other than getting it poured all over him.

September 29, 201015 yr May I do my Patrick Starr impersonation. The Reds are 1 game behind the Giants for the 2nd seed in the N.L. San Fran won the season series against us, so the Reds are in effect 2 games down. If we finish behind San Fran we will open in Philly. To avoid Philly in the first round the Reds have to pick up 2 games on the Giants with 5 left on the schedule. The Reds post game celebration last night was the best Cincinnati sports moment since Benzinger caught the pop up behind first base to compete the sweep of the A's in 1990. But... in light of the importance of overtaking the Giants, the celebration may turn out to have been a bit excessive. Cueto is on the mound tonight fighting for a spot in the playoff rotation. In his last outing he gave up 8 earned runs in 1.1 innings. This is a very big start for Cueto. He was crazy wild in the post game locker room last night and looked pretty wasted. Tonight's game could knock Cueto out of the playoff starting rotation and lock us in to opening the playoffs in Philly. It was a great party though. Extremely fun to watch. While I hope we go out and "work up a number 6 on them", I think the Astros will punch our ticket to Philly tonight.
