'Cats fall to 3-1 and 0-1

About what I expected.

Not what I was hoping for. Offensively, there were some positives (Chris Matthews). UK's run defense looked horrible in obvious run situations. Game could have been worse if Demps didn't get hurt and pulled for the game early in the second half.

Kentucky was outclassed at practically every position and proved once again that they simply are not on the same level as the SEC's top teams.

Gosh, imagine how much a decent non-conference game might have prepared UK for the shock of facing a team with that much speed and depth. I saw at least a half-dozen plays that went for big gains against the Akrons of the world that were stopped for no gain against UF.

Yeah...Mizzou or Illinois would have prepared us for Florida. Those teams obviously had the likes of Ohio State, Texas and Oklahoma ready to tangle with the SEC's elite.

 

I think reasonable UK fans were hoping to get the Gator team that had 42 bad snaps in the opener. Unfortunately, we didn't.

Well obviously the only way we can expect to compete against Florida is to make next year's non conference schedule have the Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins, and Louisville (have to have 1 win right?). We should also ask the SEC office if we can play the SEC West games on the road every year. This will prepare us better.

There wasn't anything UK could have done to prepare for UF. Florida is simply better. They are bigger, faster, and more talented. Look at UF's DL and LBs and then look at UKs. Compare their offensive lines. The only things UK has that compare to UF are WRs and Derrick Locke.

 

Hartline has proven to be "captain checkdown" once again. Horizontal passes do not work against the UFs and Bamas of the world, they turn into 3 yard gains at best and pick 6's at worst. UK was not aggressive enough to be able to move the ball and score consistently. Deep passes to Matthews were money all night. Cobb made some nices plays in the intermediate middle of the field. How about some misdirection? How about a screen or two to Locke? None of that probably would have mattered though.

 

And I hate John Brantley. He's the most overrated piece of garbage in the country IMO. Brantley makes me like and miss Tim Tebow. I hope he throws 4 picks next week and Gator nation begs for Burton to be the guy under center.

I can't fathom how a Miami of Ohio team can play Florida close for three quarters and Kentucky can't. UAB took Tennessee to double overtime and Kentucky won't beat them. Jacksonville State won at Ole Miss, but UK is likely to go there and lose. Do these teams prepare better than UK? I can't wrap my head around this one.

Maybe teams take UK more seriously than Miami of Ohio or JState? I think Florida, UT and Ole Miss will have much more focus going into a game against UK, especially with UK's recent track record of knocking off a team or two every year that they're not suppose to beat.

Best said talent level at UK not on the same playing field as Gators except for a few players. Florida controlled the line on both sides of the ball and that is where games are won. As Gator fan game went as excepted but wish UK luck the rest of the season. GO GATORS.

Miami didn't score a touchdown against UF, and UF fumbled 3 times in that game.

Its ridiculous to compare games like that. UK only beat Miami by 2 in basketball this year, and we saw how poorly they played after that...

Pretty much what I figured. We just aren't as talented as we have been IMO. I think Joker will get talent though. No legit QB on the roster it seems. I would have definatly put a different QB to try to get a spark and see what they could do in that environment.

While the qb situation would have not changed the outcome of the game this game did show once again that UK is not going to win big games with Hartline. Might be a great young man but he's not an SEC qb.

UK just never matches up well with Florida. I thought maybe they would this year, but that is not case. However I don't think any other SEC team would beat UK as easily as Florida did. Its just how teams match up with each other and the style they play, and UK just doesn't match up well with what they do.
