I'll take 3-1 with some very winnable games remaining over 1-3 any day.

Maybe. And maybe they don't get embarassed on national TV by Florida. What affects recruiting more? Beating Akron by 40 or losing to Florida by 40 in front of a national audience? When was the last time UK was within a touchdown of Florida entering the fourth quarter?

Woodson's senior year, 4 years ago.

UK just never matches up well with Florida. I thought maybe they would this year, but that is not case. However I don't think any other SEC team would beat UK as easily as Florida did. Its just how teams match up with each other and the style they play, and UK just doesn't match up well with what they do.

I think this hits the nail on the head. The spread that UF runs puts their athletes in alot of one on one situaitons, that Kentucky just cannot win. Most of the other teams in the league do not do this, and the teams that do like Auburn do not have that much of an athletic advantage on UK, the way UF does. Florida gets you in space and the only way to stop it is if you can match up. UF gets pressure and controls the line of scrimmage with only their DL, and they use the back 7 in coverage. A team has to be able to cover them in space and prevent their front four from dominating the LOS so that they have to send more people to get to the QB IMO. I think UF wants to make the game into a lot of individual matchups, and UK just cannot match them player for player, and honestly never will be able too. That's why I think UK has got to have a good and aggressive scheme for them, it helped MSU and Arkansas stay with them last year, so why not try it?

I disagree. If you've seen something similar before, you're better able to attack it when you see it again.

Name me 3 teams that could prepare UK for the type of speed UF has. Bama doesn't count because UK really can't schedule them as they are in the same conference and just have to play when they can.

Most of your ultrafast teams like OSU don't have that kind of speed at every position the way UF does. Burton basically plays H-Back and he's a better athlete than half the RBs in the SEC. I'm sure the teams you have mentioned would really remind UK of what they see when they play UF.....Iowa State, Illinois, Indiana, Cincy yeah they look like the Florida Gators to me .

They look a lot more like Florida than Akron or WKU. Never once have I said that any of the mid-level BCS teams are equal with Florida or LSU. Just that they have more speed and depth overall than the non-con dregs UK regularly plays, and getting a stiffer challenge might better prepare them for the rigors of the SEC.

It's on national TV.

Why would anybody watch UK vs. UC except for UK and UC fans? Simply put, they wouldn't...

What you're saying is irrelevant. The bottom line is that the way UK does things now, they won't ever be much more than a Music City Bowl team. If playing in low-rent bowls nobody cares about is all you want, great. UK is on the fast track to "success."

I don't know if it was you or not, but somebody said UK playing on national TV would help them with recruiting. That's just simply not the case. Playing UC, IU, Illinois, etc. is not going to help UK recruit. Winning and continuing to get to bowls will. If you make the schedule tougher and go 5-7 or 4-8, that's a huge step back. The only way UK will 'prepare' better for UF, UT, LSU, and so on is to get better players, and honestly that's going to be pretty difficult unless the state of Kentucky starts producing more talent. Woodson and company were competitive in the SEC playing the same type of schedule as they are now.

UK will never be a top team in the SEC in football. They may have a pretty good team every few years, but they just don't have the means to stay on the same level as the majority of the conference.

A national game with a similar team from a BCS conference would help them a lot more than playing Akron on regional TV would. You UK fans overemphasize the impact of playing in garbage bowls. A decent regular-season game in the early weeks of the season (when teams like Florida and Alabama are beating up on scrub teams) would draw a lot more viewers than most of what's offered at that time. Probably would draw more than the Music City Bowl also, especially when you consider that most college FB fans don't pay the first bit of attention to anything outside of the BCS bowls, and most have shifted their thinking to watching the NFL -- or, in UK fans' case, basketball.

I watched Michigan beat up on whoever they played this weekend. Surely ESPN could have found a better game to put on? The big name schools will get the TV time. UK/Iowa State wouldn't be on national TV. UK/Baylor wouldn't be on national TV. UK/UC and UK/IU would only get regional coverage.

Who's going to want to watch a UK/IU game on national TV?

Only UK and IU fans. Big schools get the TV time because people will watch even if they are playing someone terrible.

Tennessee/UAB was the SEC game of the week Saturday. Florida/Miami Ohio was in Week #1. I'm an SEC fan and watched both even though I dont like Tennessee or Florida. The same logic applies to basketball. SEC fans watch their conference teams play. There are threads on here that prove it.

I was totally wrong on this. I thought for sure Cobb and Locke would run wild and with a good passing game could pull this one out. As it I watched the scores being posted, at the game I was attending, I couldn't believe my eye's.

Are those SEC games of the week on national TV? I'd be willing to bet no.

What you just said proved my point. The bigger schools will always get the TV time, no matter who they play. Last week there wasn't a lot left to choose from for the SEC network people. UK/UF was on ESPN. USC/Auburn was on ESPN. Arkansas/Alabama was on national TV. LSU/WVU was on ESPN.

Vandy is playing UCONN next week...It's not on TV

UGA is playing Colorado...It's on FSN (the same channel UK was on playing Akron).

But Auburn is playing Louisiana Monroe and its on ESPNU

Makes a lot of sense...

Playing another BCS conference doesn't have as much to with with being on TV as you'd think.

The SEC vs. SEC games get on CBS and ESPN/ESPN2. A lot of it has to do with start times also.

Which is why UK doesn't need to worry about getting exposure. The majority of their games the rest of the year will be on TV.

As for start times. UK doesn't have a set start time the rest of the year besides Ole Miss. TV determines the start times.

Week #1 there were three SEC vs. BCS games. UK/UL and LSU/UNC were both on ABC. Vandy/Northwestern was on Comcast. Alabama, Tennessee, and Arkansas played inferior teams and were on PPV and internet.

What games were on ABC that week? UK/UL; Michigan/UCONN; UCLA vs. Kansas State; LSU/UNC. All four games were BCS vs. BCS games.

Week #2 there were three SEC vs. BCS games. All three were on ESPN national games. Florida/South Florida was on the SEC Network. Penn State vs. Alabama was on ESPN. Oregon vs. Tennessee on ESPN2.

Week #3 there were two SEC vs. BCS games. Both on National TV. Alabama at Duke was on ABC; Clemson at Auburn was on ESPN

This weekend there were only one SEC vs. BCS game. LSU/WVU was on ESPN.

Eight of the nine SEC vs. BCS games have been on either ESPN, ESPN2, the SEC Network, or ABC.

It's not a hard concept.

1.) Tennessee and Florida have been comparible SEC teams in the past decade. Yet UK always plays Tennessee closer than they do Florida. I'm thinking the SEC schedule better prepares them to play Tennessee than Akron and WKU prepares them to play Florida.

2.) There were those on here who griped when Kentucky moved their game with Louisville because they feared the lack of national exposure would hurt recruiting. National exposure includes two things. National TV games and playing national powers close.

3.) How many recruits did UK invite to be on the sidelines for their wins over WKU and Akron? Anyone?

4.) Akron played Indiana to 15 points Saturday. I'm guessing it would have been more had they scheduled Pablam State instead of Kentucky last week.

5.) Bowl games are set up based on conference finish. Wouldnt it make sense to prepare better for an SEC finish than to find a way to get to six wins and go to Nashville or Memphis? Both Tennessee and Uk were 7-5 last year. UT was 4-4 in the SEC. UK was 3-5. UT got the better bowl.

Granted, UK is not on the same plane as Florida. But I said UT was going to beat Kentucky and got crucified. This is a year when UK has legit shots at beating UT and Georgia and a decent chance against South Carolina. Win those games and UK is #2 in the SEC East and playing a national bowl in Florida on a national network such as CBS or ABC.

If you agree that UK has legit shots at winning two of three against UT, SC, and Ga., I ask you. What have they done to prepare themselves to get over the hump and beat them?

Maybe this UK coaching staff just isn't good at preparing for opponents the way others in the SEC are.
