September 20, 201015 yr I'm bothered by this because this is just a reason in 15 years for LaRue can look back and make an excuse as to why he had to retire and avoid the fact that he sucks. He can't just retire and say, "my days are over, I'm just not good." He can now say "I got kicked in the face, and was forced to retire."
September 20, 201015 yr It wasn't that is why he was suspended. He's suspended if he punches someone too....That's acceptable...
September 20, 201015 yr I'm not going to support what Cueto did but maybe if Larue didn't catch bullpens later in the game he would have gotten better. If the part about him having 20 concussions is true, he should have retired long ago...
September 20, 201015 yr I feel bad for Jason. But Carpenter is just as much at fault as Cueto. Carpenter kept this incident going by running his mouth.
September 20, 201015 yr Sucks for LaRue, but I don't blame anyone. I'd be interested to see the source on him having 20 concussions in his career, because no one has posted it yet.
September 20, 201015 yr Playing sports, you risk injury, before during and after games. If LaRue really has had 20 concussions, the doctor's aren't doing a very good job. As for the title, if anyone in baseball could be retired by not seeing a pitch, it would be Jason LaRue.
September 20, 201015 yr For the record it wasn't even the Cardinal players that had Cueto pinned against the fence, it was his own players trying to keep him from getting thrown out.
September 20, 201015 yr I like this title: Cowboy spurred into retirement .....we can skin a buck, we can run a trotline, and a countryboy can survive.
September 20, 201015 yr For the record it wasn't even the Cardinal players that had Cueto pinned against the fence, it was his own players trying to keep him from getting thrown out. Of course it was Reds' players. That is why his kicks hit Cardinal players and no Reds players. Did you watch the Fantastic Four this weekend? Now, out of the STRETTTCCCHH, Cueto kicks and .....
September 20, 201015 yr I wonder if the 20 concussions may have impaired LaRue's judgement when he got behind the wheel when he was drunk? I don't condone what Cueto did, but LaRue had the gall to call him an idiot. Did LaRue stop to think what that incident could have done to his career, much less his or other lives? Cueto was wrong and he paid a price. I don't like the way BP said it, but he was spot on. Perhaps a name change is in order, The St. Louis "Victim" Cards.
September 20, 201015 yr So the guys pinning down Cueto's along the backstop, had nothing to do with it? He is some great advice! Don't want to get hurt in a baseball fight? Don't leave the dugout! As a group they pinned him and he was there pushing with the group. Don't push him against the netting if you don't want to get kicked. What are you trying to prove here? Of course it was Reds' players. That is why his kicks hit Cardinal players and no Reds players. Did you watch the Fantastic Four this weekend? Now, out of the STRETTTCCCHH, Cueto kicks and ..... Not everyone see's that.
September 20, 201015 yr I will reply to my own statement that Cueto was wrong; If I was in the same position, I think I would have done the same thing. As a pitcher in a melee, you can possibly destroy your own career by landing a punch, or possibly have a couple guys wrestle with you and jerk your arm around. It seems like every year a pitcher gets injured as he gets ticked off and punches something, duh !
September 20, 201015 yr Clyde, no disrespect intended at all, but have you ever been in a fight? ...or more pertinently, have you even been in a brawl with numerous people fighting you and/or fighting around you?

Cueto was being restrained by his own teammates and took the chance to get in some cheap shots. He then tries to claim he was pinned and scared.
September 20, 201015 yr It wasn't that is why he was suspended. Two different judges: MLB and BGPers.
