No that's not acceptable but what do you expect its a freaking fight with 50 people who knows what will happen? I guess the other 19 concussions had nothing to do with this. Larue seemed to be good to warmup guys in the bullpen and jump up and down cheering in the same game he was kicking in the noggin.

Not to mention, Ramon is a good player. Larue on the other hand is garbage. It would mean more to the Reds if their starting catcher got kicked in the face, rather than their bullpen catcher.

So we agree that there are unacceptable actions in a baseball fight. So why should kicking someone in the noggin be acceptable?

I'm going to write this off as the posting of a youngster with lots of a)loyalty to his team and b)lots of testosterone. Many of us were once there.

Throwing a baseball is much different then pinning someone on the fence and them kicking in retaliation, and it's not even debatable. Would I complain about someone kicking our players? Of course. A month and a half later? No chance.

Because throwing a baseball or swinging a bat could be classified as using a weapon. Why is throwing a punch acceptable and kicking not acceptable? I know the obvious answer is it's a sissy thing to do, but throwing baseballs or swinging bats doesn't even compare. Punching and kicking is using part of your body as a weapon, not an outside object.

I thinK it's already been proven. Some fans can't see past their fave team's logo when it comes to seeing the obvious. Putting a metal cleat into the head of ANYONE is not acceptable and I THINK most people recognize that. Lives were not in danger. LaRue didn't break into Cueto's house and threaten his family. LaRue wasn't pulling a knife. It was a baseball fight.

Uh oh. Someone's getting sensitive. You and others are hypocrites. You know for a FACT that you would be leading the pack crying about Hernandez getting kicked by the "sissy" Carpenter had roles been reversed. My simple yet seemingly difficult point is that you (and others so I'm not singling anyone out) can't see the forest for the trees because of you being a fan.

 

By your "if you don't want to get kicked stay out of the fight logic" you'd be OK with Cueto taking a bat to the skull of LaRue because , hey, if you're afraid to get a Louisville Slugger taken to your skull stay in the dugout. Now your immediate knee-jerk reaction will be to say "that's different because a bat is a weapon." A spike isn't?

It's not black and white so that argument doesn't fly. History shows that sports violence has a different level of what's acceptable than violence on Main Street, USA.

Believe me this doesn't strike a nerve. And yes, a bat is worse than a spike. If the other team came running out of the dugout stacked deep with bats in their hands, believe me, I'd stay in the dugout. Otherwise, everything is fair game, IMO. Like I said, it sucks he got kicked in the face, but when you're fighting, you better be prepared unless they have bats/knives/balls/chainsaws/etc.
