To answer the question, no. The past has shown that when St X has a modest talent advantage, Trinity wins the title. When Trinity has a talent advantage, St X goes out early. When St X has a big talent advantage, X can win one. This year is different. As shown last night, the Trinity offense can be slowed way down with good defense. St X has a great defense. Trinity has two missing pieces right now. First, the defense has to get better. Passes under the zone are open. Second, the deep passing game isn't there. I believe that both of those pieces will be there by the end of the year, but they aren't there yet. One other thing that should not be overlooked is Ballard. They look like they have the ability to hang a bunch of points on anyone, anytime. The second place team in the Trinity/Ballard district will likely have to beat St X and the first place team back to back. That is a tall order.

A. Trinity is ahead at this point in time.

 

B. I'm pretty sure that Simon Kenton has already been anointed as 6A champs.:notworthy:

The only ones proclaiming that this is Trinity's best team ever are all from the X camp. Nice try but we understand why you guys post that stuff.

Holding Male to 5 first downs and a little over 100 yards of offesne (45 of those coming on 1 play) should give Tiger Nation a glimmer of hope that we can keep the October 1 showdown from being a blowout. McMurray's return to the lineup should also give our anemic offense a boost and perhaps allow our defense to stay off the field for longer than 3 plays. Let's just hope the injury bug is over and we come out of the Central game without more walking wounded.

You can win alot of state championships at St. X with a weak offense.

I will say this. Trinity is hungry and will remember the disrespect shown in the state title game with a fake field goal being called followed by the bow on the field towards the Trinity side immediately after that touchdown...Trinity's defense also is improving each and every week.

 

The players might have graduated but the Head Coach remains. I will assure you Coach Glaser will get his payback. The difference, Coach Beatty won't resort to tipping his hat or break out a broom.

And to be perfectly candid, the Rocks have a lot of work to do to get to Bowling Green in December. They can't afford to discount the Tigers and they won't.

The Broom incident a couple of years ago, and then running up the score with a field goal last year, and Coach G tipping his hat just makes him look like a fool, and allot of Tiger fans have agreed with these statements. You sure didn't see Coach B ridiculeing the Tigers when he has won the state game what 9 times, now that is respect. The Tiger program is way to good to have such nonsence happening on the field especially by the head coach.

However, I can't seem to recall a recent year when T was thought to have the better squad and St. X beat them...

I'm not sure I can agree on this! I think if you go back the past 5-6 years and look at the OVERALL talent on the team and in-season rankings/results, STX has had the advantage EVERY year yet could only win the title last year when Trinity just was nowhere close to them in talent level. I agree with the comment above that Trinity fans should hope that Glaser has many years left at X.

With all do respect and a tip of the hat your perspective is way off. I understand that this Rocks team is young and you are trying to help keep the big head in check by playing down their talent, experience, and greatness but most agree as the all the polls indiacate that this Trinity is number one. This is the greatest of all Trinity teams only to be surpassed by next year's team. I am suprised that the Bombers barely escaped with their victory. The only chink in the Shamrock armor that could possibly be found may be in how they respond to this unexpected loss. This group of Rocks is no longer inexperienced after the game with the Bombers. They have now faced some great opponents and have won and by some fluke lost one. This is experienced gained. Lets hear no more of this inexperience gobbledygook.

Who last year thought Trinity had a better team than St. X during the season? Trinity lost some games early and as I recall it, several T posters were saying that Trinity's team that year (2009) had some issues with limited leadership and desire, unlike what happens at T in most years. I don't recall any T supporters (or anyone else, for that matter) talking about Trinity as being a great team in 2009. In fact, I think that Trinity's thumping at the hands of Cincy St. X last year set some records for worst loss and/or worst performance by a Trinity squad ever.

 

I think St. X beating T last year is an example of a better team (X) winning a game (the title game against T) that they were expected to win.
