knnal
Leo Peckenpaugh, who has been broadcasting Henderson County games for 30 years, told listeners on WSON after Friday's game that it would be his last, according to the Henderson Gleaner. I would like to personally thank Leo for his contributions to the KNN High School Scoreboard Show over the years. Thanks from all of us at KNN! The Scribe
I think WSON sets the standard for radio stations when it comes to covering high school sports for Henderson. While too many stations worry about the bottom line and cutting into local newscasts, I've seen Henderson carry many regular season sporting events during baseball and softball season and even saw them carry a little league championship game on a Sunday afternoon 80 miles from home some years back. More "local" radio stations should follow their lead, and I'm sure Henderson fans will miss Leo on the air.
HCHS COLONEL
I've been best friends with one of Mr. Peckenpaugh's sons for along time and have been fortunate to get to know Leo. He's a class act guy and will be miss on friday nights. Good Luck Mr. Peckenpaugh in all you do. Not gonna be the same without you.
