Wow I never thought the outcome of this game would be so bad.

Watched this game last night. I believe CCH is in for a very long year and here's why. I believe their offense will struggle to sustain drives, thus keeping their defense on the field for extended periods throughout games. This will do two things; one, wear down their D, and two, make them one dimensional on offense which is never a good thing in this sport.

This is not a SK thread so please quit jacking, until SK can prove they are as great as you think or better yet play somebody an beat them please quit running your trap.

For those who watched the game, how well-conditioned did Ryle look in the game? Any issues with cramping or players looking really fatigued?

 

Also, how long did Ryle's starters stay in the game last night?

 

It appeared Ryle's startes played until mid 4th Qtr. I noticed Elliott looking fatigued early on but unfortunately (for Cov Cath) Mullens was able to come in and not miss a beat. The last 2-3 scores looked like a mix of Ryle 1st & 2nd team O vs Cov Cath 2nd D. Also Cov Cath 2nd team O turned the ball over twice giving Ryle good field position.

I seem to recall something like 560 and not one single pass completion.

 

Must say a very disappointing start for CCH. I thought they would be a little further along. I think No. Ky needs the Colonels to be competitive to have some good rivalries to talk about. Seems as this year has already been minimized to the 2 Highlands/Ryle games and Sk + Ryle, and let's face it, only one of those games really means anything as far as district play is concerned.

I hope this performance by Cov Cath does not affect the rest of the season!

Agreed...Northern Ky football is much more interesting when traditional powers like CovCath, Beechwood, and NCC are at their best. Highlands will always be good. It's like anything else, when the top 4 or 5 teams have been known to be good over the years, the season is much more interesting. I think a good example is how much more interest there is in college basketball nationwide when teams like UK, Duke, UNC, UCLA, Kansas etc are all simultaneously having a string of great seasons.

I find it interesting that quite a few of the posters are saying that Cov Cath played terribly, how dissappointed you were in their performance or you thought that they would have been further along in their rebuilding process by now. The same people were saying, before the game, how competive the Colonels were going to be in this match up. Maybe CCH is as improved as you thought but Ryle is just that good this year; who knows only time will tell, for both teams. Maybe more people should give Ryle some credit for how well they played and how talented they are this year.

Your post is right on the money. Cov Cath did not play to their ability in this one, and I think most posters are at the same time giving Ryle alot of credit. Ryle is good and should continue to improve as the season progresses. But at the same time most Cov Cath followers felt this would be a closer contest. You basically had size and experience (Ryle) vs youth and potential (Cov Cath). For Cov Cath you only had 1-2 experienced returning skill position players, and the O line lost 3 starters from last year and 3 of 4 D line starters. So you had several players getting their first extensive varsity experience against two (or more) of the top players in N Ky, if not the State. I for one was very impressed by Ryle, and at the same time a little disappointed in the play of Cov Cath. But again maybe Ryle was so superior to make Cov Cath look as bad as they did?

Congrats to ALL the Ryle players for their play this week and an impressive job by the O-line. I know they all set their sights forward at midnight Friday night.

 

The good thing about this year's squad is that most of them have a lot of experience against a really good '09 Bluebirds team and have a very good idea about the type of performance they will need Friday night.

 

Conner Hemple will work out the kinks in his arm this week and his vastly improved mobility, durability and Sr. confidence will be a decisive factor. Its an exciting time to be a Ryle Raider fan!
