Ryle 61 Covington Catholic 7

Featured Replies

Looks like the Colonels have a ways to go. I think Ryle/HHS will be a good one.

Ryle can be assured that their DBs will be tested downfield. With losing their best cover man from last year I would have hoped to see more shots downfield.

We'll write it off and see how the intestinal fortitude is for the boys and the staff.

The good news is that CCH will not see a back like Elliott the rest of the year.

61-7 is a statement by Coach Warner and Ryle.

Looks like Cov Cath is still a year away. The Colonels being down seems like forever now, even though they have won a state championship in the last five years.

Not even worth replying to.

So you quote him too.

Look...nobody expected CCH to win. Hopefully this lights a fire under CCH and they come out swinging next game.

61-7 is one of the worst beatdowns in the history of the school. They have a entire season to redeem themselves. As mentioned before, lets see what kind of pride these boys have.

The fact that it was 7-6 CCH halfway through the 2nd tells me they can compete.

Was it 19-7 at half?

Conner Hempel is such a good running qb and he is deceiving. Some will remember Q Meeks from Boone who graduated in 05 and was a stud runner. Hempel is completely different in that it's not pure speed. His footwork is impressive as gets out of jams. The kid can make some serious chicken salad. Add in that he'll lower his shoulder and he's a serious threat - especially when you get locked in on #34.

About what I excepted from the offense and until the CovCath "D" got tired from being literally on the field for 95% of the time, they (the "D") played rather well against a very strong "O" of Ryle

No one can except the "D" to stop anyone when the "O" goes 3 and out time after time after time!

BTW young Bir didn't play all that badly in his first start against a very and I mean very good Ryle team.

All the talk is going to be about Elliott but the star of this game for Ryle IMO was QB Hemple (sp?). The young man indeed impressed the heck out of me tonight! The best QB in NKy is this young man period!

BTW the CovCath Crazies easily had the largest student body at Nippert tonight and I was very proud of them especially when a few of the young Ryle fans came over to the CovCath side of the stands to mouth off. The CovCath Crazies kept their cool and just ignored them!

Next week HHS vs Ryle game should be a dandy.

Chad Lawrence is the best QB in NKY 5 passing TDs around 300 yards passing!

I'd say a little too early in the season to say best QB in N Ky. I think, Lawrence (SK), Towles (Highlands) and Pike(Dixie) all will be extremely good this year. I have to see them all play before I can state best of N KY. Eah have their strengths over one another.

Elliott 22/268 4 TDs

Hempel 12/151 1 TD

Mullens 9/118 2 TDs

603 yards rushing

12th highest ever in KY

Was it 19-7 at half?

I checked and yes it was 19-7 at half.

42 2nd half points.

Was it 19-7 at half?

Yes ,and CCH was driving at end of half.

The Colonels' lone score came on a 90 yard kick-off return.

2nd year in a row Ritter returns a kick for a TD against Ryle.

CCH 128 yards rushing

51 yards passing

A year away?
