Seems my church has taught that the ancestors of the people who started the Muslim faith were the spawn of the illegitimate child of Abraham and Sarah's hand maiden, at least in early biblical history. Of course, the people that lived in these areas had a deep seeded hate for the Hebrews and were know by many different names throughout history. My point was that the hate goes back much further than both the Muslim and Christian religions.

So you ignore where Jesus said "You have heard it said and eye for and eye and tooth for tooth, BUT I say to you . . ." I certainly thought being a Christian meant following the teachings of Christ.

Are you confusing it with the story of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-11?? That was Peter, not Jesus that caught them in the lie. It is not mentioned that they are in the temple or their exact location.

Since you seem to have forgotten (or just misinterpreted) the quote I was agreeing with, I'll refresh your memory:

 

Well, the actions of those burning the Quran speaks volumes about Christian tolerance.

 

As anyone can plainly see, this statement in no way comes anywhere close to equating the two actions. It simply pointed out that book burning is an act of intolerance.

Never have I thought a country could be so tolerant of others religions that killed nearly 3000 folks on 09-11-01, and I would suggest you look into why those folks choose to kill Americans and knock down the World Trade Center buildings. I think our country is as close to turning the cheek as Jesus could ever want. Let's see what dividends it reaps.

 

Not suggesting that "all" Muslims are bad, nor that it is a bad religion. It is however, insulting to one's intelligence to suggest that those folks that killed all of those people weren't Muslim, and that they didn't deliberately do that unthinkable harm against our country because of our country's alliance with Isreal and Judeo/Christian heritage.

I believe that believing that Jesus is the son of God and my savior is the only way to reach Heaven. I also believe that we will all sin and will never reach the level of the forgiving figure Jesus was on Earth. I also believe in ritcheous indignation. In short, I try to live according to the principles of the Bible as close as I can, but I believe I will fail. I do however mean the Bible, and not just the New Testament. Jesus is my path to heaven as a sinner. His history in the Bible is not the only part of the book that I choose to attempt to adhere to.

The "religions" didn't kill 3000 Americans (some of which where Muslim Americans, too, btw). Religious extremists killed those Americans.

 

Who has suggested that those that committed the atrocities on 9/11 weren't Muslim extremists? Additionally, I think most of us on here understand why those terrorists did what they did. However, none of that is relevant to whether or not there is a constitutional right for the building of the Islamic center in NYC or the burning of the Quran by the other group.

Wow - so Jesus is your saviour but you can just ignore his teachings - completely. It sounds to me as if you worship the Bible and not Jesus - I may be reading what you say wrongly, but if the Bible is more Holy than the Son of God . . . I don't know that I have encountered anyone with this same belief system. It certainly gives me something to think about.
