Another person not big on predictions. I'm sure that Manual will be jacked up to beat the Birds at DCM, but a packed DCM can be a daunting place to play if you are not used to the environs. It will help Manual some that Lucas has coached a team at DCM in the not too distant past (Bryan Station in 08). I'm told that Manual has some very talented athletes. The Birds will have to correct the mistakes that occurred in the Trinity game if they are to beat Manual.

 

Manual stadium seats 12,000 and they played the Male game for a few years at Papa John's, the crowd size probably won't be an issue. Also, Manual held Bowling Green to under 100 yds of offense and without an offensive score. Last time I looked BG was #2 in 5A, where are all these 40+ point predictions coming from, last year they only scored 19 vs a defense full of soph's. Should be a close, low scoring affair again.

It's not the crowd size that he's talking about. It's the setting, combined with so many other elements that makes up the total experience. If you come up for the game, you'll see what it's like.

Very good point. If Highlands only managed 19 against this squad with AC and alot of the Manual D returning, how in the world are we expecting to score 40+ against these guys? And what if the Birds score 40+? Oh, let the comparisons begin......

It's in good hands. The '09 will be in place by game time.

A Manual coach I have spoken with said that they have looked at a film of the HHS-Trinity scrimmage and are of the opinion that HS is not as fast as last year. Is this an accurate assessment? He was not saying that Manual would win or anything like that, just making the comment about the team speed.

I have the utmost respect for the program that Highlands has built over decades of playing football in Kentucky, but I root against them because I like going for the underdog (unless my team is playing).

 

Besides that, it just gets old hearing from everyone in Fort Thomas that Kentucky High School Football = Highlands Football. It is a rarity that in any conversation about football, highlands doesn't come up. Talk about 1A ball in western KY, and it always seems like someone wants to bring up highlands. Just gets old.

I don't disagree. Highlands football = very good Northern Kentucky football. Nothing more. Doesn't stack up to the 6A powers in Louisville, nor the best Cincinnati schools, and their fans know it.

Keep trying. I saw a SNL skit with Buck Henry one time where he was a radio call host who kept saying outrageous things to get a rise out of people so they would call in. He got up to something like he was in favor of the Russions coming over and killing puppies.
