The Birds have an explosive offense and will put points on the score board. The defense will come around quickly. I recall last year at this time folks were worried about the defense, but they came around very early in the season to be outstanding all year. Not Jim's style at all Whackem. No even close. He's a very fair and straight poster.

I really commend both Highlands and Manual for setting up this 2009-2010 contract to play during the first week of the season. I realize the travel is a bit expensive and the distance makes it more challenging for the fans to attend, but both schools represent the best in public school education in Kentucky and both schools take a great deal of pride in the product they put on the field.

 

Also, it gives Highlands a chance to play a game against a program that has won national championships in its history, and it gives Manual a chance to play a game against a program that finished 2009 ranked third in the US... win, win!

Last year someone told me "he would be starting that night for T." I told that person that he was 'on something" - for T doesn't start Freshmen. NOt even Brian B. started as a Frosh.

It seems as if this past weeks scrimmage only added to the big question mark over Highlands Defense. I think many Bluebird faithful can't wait to see what Weinrich does this coming week. I realize that some starters were out friday night, but 40+ is 40+. Personally, I don't see Manual scoring more than 21 in this week's opener. I talked previously about Highlands needing a "loss" per se and my wish came true. At least it happened before it counted. Many disagree but I think this was the best thing that could've happened to this team opening up 2010. To play a lesser talented team would have done Highlands no good. A loss was just what the Dr. ordered. I just hope the prescription was for "no refills".

Perhaps its time to move on JB. I know your a big HHS supporter but this is 2010. Dale will even tell you straight up, "Each Highlands team stands on the shoulders of the great teams that stood before them", thats what makes Highlands a great program. You have been very vocal about being concerned over comments made on here about comparing this yrs team to last yrs team. I certainly dont want to go there, because it wouldnt be fair to say that HHS ranking last yr came from one yr. It came from close to 100 yrs and 18 other State Champions. Go Birds 20n10
